Turkish Super Lig Matchday 32 - Wrap Up

Matchday 32 in the Turkish Super League kicked off with surprise win for Adanaspor over Besiktas on Friday. Ali Asim's goal on 82nd minute was all it took for the already-relegated southern club. It was the first victory in eighteen games for Adanaspor.

On Saturday evening, Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor played unimpressive victories against mid-table Ankaragucu and G. Antepspor respectively. It was in the second half when the Canaries took control of the game after a dull first half saw them leave the field trailing 0-1. Young attacking midfielder Semih levelled things on 48 and two goals from Pierre van Hooijdonk on 53 and 89 gave Fener a 3-1 victory. Trabzonspor, one can say, won much more comfortably as they took a 2-0 lead by the 69th minute. Bouazizi's goal became a consolation for Antepspor whose UEFA chances look all but faded.

On Sunday afternoon, it was the turn of the relegation battlers as Bursaspor, Istanbulspor and Sebatspor all came out on the field top play with somewhat stronger opponents. It was OK for Sebatspor, as they clinched a crucial victory thanks to a goal from former Besiktas and Las Palmas striker Oktay Derelioglu. Bursaspor needed a miraculous comeback to win at home to Rizespor 4-2, after Rizespor led 2-0 till 61st minute. However, Bursaspor might be penalised for the brawl in half-time, as three Rizespor players claim to be hit by the stewards. Sedlak (Sweeper), Victoria (Winger) and Koray (Rigth-Back) all claimed that they were seriously struck by the security guards or the stewards.

Perhaps the team that is the top-favourite for relegation now is Istanbulspor. They failed to win against a lacklustre Galatasaray, despite taking the lead on 27th minutes thanks to a great goal from their Israeli striker Pinhas Balili. Ayhan Akman cancelled out Balili's goal on 33rd minute and in-form Necati gave Gala the lead on 55 minutes. Iordanov equalised on 57 to make it 2-2 and that's how it stood till the end of the game.
