Women's Euro Basket 2017

The Greek women's national team is having a very successful European Championships taking place in Czech Republic. 

In the group stage they defeated heavy favorites Serbia and qualified to the knock out stage of the tournament.

Today in the first knockout stage Greece defeated another favorite Russia 62:58 and qualified to the quarterfinals of the tournament, where we will meet Turkey.

Big win against Turkey which has several naturalized American players on its roster in the quarterfinals  84:55.

In the semifinals we will play the winner of France - Slovakia

We will play France in the semifinals.

As a result of making the semifinals the national team secured a spot in the next World Championships.

Oh my God! I never imagine the women's team are playing this good! In fact, better than the men's! lol

Ended up in 4th place. After beating Turkey the team did not show up for the game games against France and Belgium losing by gig margins. At least we qualified for the World Championships.

I think this will be there second appearance at the World Championships. They also have an Olympic appearance too, host nation at the Athens 2004 games.
