Lamiara ole Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 (edited) A great man with a great vision for Greece has left this world! My sincere condolences to his family for a true patriot. RIP. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konstantinos_Mitsotakis Edited May 29, 2017 by Lamiara ole
Tzatziki Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Very pro US and Israel, kinda blamed for being soft with handling the FYROM-Macedonia name issue (appropriation). Thats about all I know, escaped the junta and lived in France I think, was the opponent of Papandreou, also I think a bit more to the right, but thats relative for Greece which is pretty left. Im sure others can do a better summary on the mans career. I don't know d.ick bout him tbh. 1
Lamiara ole Posted June 2, 2017 Author Posted June 2, 2017 He was the PM who predicted the current demise of Greece and its economic situation back in 1993! Way ahead of his time!
athinaios Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I happened to follow the events in the 1990s regarding Skopje. Mitsotakis was realistic in wanting a name with the word "Slavo" in it. The region had the name "Macedonia" in Yugoslavia and Greece hadn't objected, so when Yugo broke apart, the Skopjans kept the name. It's been decades since and the issue hasn't been resolved. It was Samaras who brought down Mitso' gov.
