So can someone tell me what happened to pelkas ? don't seem to see his name so often written in the assists and goals areas. Is he even playing ? Is he playing bad or is his role a bit back.

Well Fortounis is creative as a player . But Maniatis is (or was if you prefer) a fast player with good defensive instinct. If you just care about keeping he 0 back , you don't have a need for Fortounis.

A 5 - 3 - 2 could be enough to take us draws vs belgium by the way. If Kyriakos papadopoulos is fit , with Taxi Maniatis Samaris in the midfield and Kone with Mitroglou seems a plan.

Would you guys prefer a National Team with Wingers , with Fetfatzidis , maybe Kaltsas and Karelis if they show steady improvement now with the first playing starter at PAO and Karelis probably getting a transfer at a better league, or with a system like the one against Hungary, with 2-3 very talented and creative players like Forounis, Pelkas , Mantalos ? Personally I would go for the 2nd for one reason only. Mitroglou. The Benfica coach has him figured that he needs a 2nd striker to work with. He and Jonas are cooperating well and his lack of solo effort success due to 0 speed doesn't show. There are many times when the 2 are both found in the opponent's area.Id put a second striker up front , who can run too , like Vellios or Giannou , so there is no space for wingers. 4-2-2-2 would seem more appropriate with our material, with the typical defence , a Tachtsidis/Maniatis and Samaris DM duo, a Pelkas / Mantalos / Kone / Fortounis duo and maybe playing a bit wide and a Mitroglou with someone else up front. By the way, about 1 year ago I remember 2 very good players of our league , Zeca and Marcelinho willing to take Greek citizenship. They would then be both legit for the Greek National Team. You are too hard on Savvides. He might not know how to get organised but that might not be his fault , he changes the armodious every year and I don't believe its his fault again. Rome wasn't build in a day, and clearing your debts is actually a huge move which means he is interested in running the club himself and not making money out of it and quitting. He seems to have interest in youth talent development with the likes of Pelkas and Konstantinidis being key players along Robert Mak , a slovakian super star , Rodriguez, Golasa and Athanasiadis.

Rosterwise Olympiakos is far inferior to Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. But Both teams don't do any better at Europe. Can't talk about Fener because they had a ban from European Competitions since 2015-16. Galatasaray usually perfrms as Oly does , maybe goes 1 or 2 rounds further in Europa League and maybe they qualified for R16 of champions League 1 more time than us the last 5-6 years.

Competition for first spot used to be between 3 teams. Oly ,Pao , Aek (and in the brains of PAOKtzides, Paok too. There was even competition for Europa League with teams like Aris and Larisa , even teams like Oly Volou who had few seasons managed to do good. Right now The competition for first spot is gone. And so is the competition for playoffs. Pao ,Paok ,Aek got a spot guaranteed , due to fanela and history which the other greek teams lack. 4th play off spot really got competition between Panionios,Asteras, and maybe Iraklis makes a step up and takes the spot. So my prediction is that the timetable will be: Oly Pao Aek Paok Asteras/Iraklis and with less chances Panionios This listing is about 80% correct. Where's the drama and the thrilling excitement over who wins the damn league ? Wheres the excitement waiting for a surprise team to step up and get a play off spot. Where's the excitement about a big team being ripped off from a play off spot by a team we dont e ven know its core roster. Im Olympiakos and i started blaming Oly at this post but frankly, if the others dont bother slightly stepping up it ain't gonna happen. You say Ira and Panionios are some big surprises of this year but I doubt it. They are teams with fanbase and with some good seasons in the past. Asteras is the only modern superleague's surprise.

A friend met fortounis at the airport someday about 2 months or 3 ago I dont remember. He asked him about his opinion on the NT failures. Fortounis answer was this : The team , us the players , thought that after going so well at the WC, we could play 20 minutes on each qualifying match and win.

I agree but Kokkalis spent money that Marinakis wont. Maybe in total Marinakis has spent more , as a number , but football then wasnt what it is today. The contracts were a lot smaller. For a starter we didnt take part at 2008 CL... Secondly , we are talking about a year that Panathinaikos had a team ,and did well in Europe, we weren't alone that year, there were 2 decent teams Pao qualified for the R16 Oly qualified from the europa groupstage, Right now , what's gonna happen if we have a similar turn of events? No other team seems to have any interest in Europe , except maybe Asteras Tripolis (hahaha), who is the unluckiest team so far when it comes to draws , getting teams like Schalke and Tottenham , teams with CL material.

Im just not sure weather the fact that our Champion no longer immidiately qualifies for the Champions League is gonna benefit us , to build a far stronger teams with not only Free Agents in fear of not qualifiying for the Ch League , or will make players uninterested in moving to Greece.

So what you are telling me is that we are in fact a small team and will never be big because we are in a non-competitive league. some of the reasons , not the only of course, that the league is non-competitive is because we win it all the time, which is not bad honestly, but is a reason , and a second reason is that we buy and sell everything that moves with the ball in style and with some talent. I can agree that the Greek Cup probably does not give that much income as the English,Italian,Spanish and German or even the French and Russian Championships, but teams like Dynamo Kiev, Monaco , APOEL , Napoli ,Roma and Malaga only had few Champions League entries and still managed what we consider a *DREAM*. By the way, when you say we got 9 points in groups including , Bayern, PSG , it makes it look like we got at least 1 point out of them, rephrase. And yeah , my bad about Anderlecht , meant they had one season in CL over the last few years (after our Continuous champions league apperanaces since 2010) they apparently have 2. Anything beyond that is before Marinakis. We spent money on some pretty decent players , including Roberto, Dominguez,Saviola,Cambiasso. These players came here just because of a secure Champions League spot. Just because they know that no matter what , they are playing at Champions League. Now that we dont have such a luxury , we can't secure players from June, we have to firstly qualify and then approach such a type of players, who wanna play to Champions League and there is no other reason for them to come to Greece. You will see the downfall of Greek Superleague which means the Downfall of the Greek teams as well and our so beloved Olympiakos, will be faster than the National Team's one.

what happened to pelkas guys ? saw him at ur europa qualifiers ,he was awesome, works well with mak. why are his statistics so low ? is he playing well ?

2008 he must have been like 26 ? Now he is at his finishing years. Hope we can find replacement juast as good as him. Its already ahrd with Holebas being our weak spot in defence, now imagine having 2 weak spots...

Especially for Bate, they have managed to keep draws vs Roma , Leverkusen , Liverpool (if i remember correctly they might have won liverpool). Also played very well against big teams like Real and Barcelona. What have Anderlecht and Malmo managed in the last couple of years ? Anderlecht only had 1 season at Champions League, Malmo just managed to beat Olympiakos and Shakhtar Donetsk . Dinamo won arsenal ,I can give them that , but we all understood what a joke of a team they are when they played against us. Still cant figure out why they bench Schildenfeld. If you wanna believe that our team is successfull in Europe by escapeing to the round of 16 Once every 5 years under Marinakis , you can go on and do it .Id rather not be stupid though.

Wouldnt be any different to put these players I mentioned in a B team. Our championship and even our lower ranks are not so challenging , so this team would finish B e8nikh first every season and the players still wouldnt be able to play in A ethniki. I just had a discussion with some people , and they told me some pretty logical stuff. A talented player that plays in Greece A,B leagues must be very lucky to get a deal from a foreign team. The other possibilities are A) be bought by Olympiakos , loaned to Aris,Levadia,Panionios,Ergotelis. There he will play with pretty average teammates who can't help him get more attention , but instead could also keep him down, and a coach that most likely does not know how to use him best at the position that his talent helps him priveil. Fast forward 2 years and that player is used to the Super League tempo , which is totally non-existend, he sees no interest from a club that bought him like a maniac, which is the only club that can give him access to Europe ,and so his lust for success/glory are gone , and maybe his interest for the sport itself are gone. And B he hasa good manager and family who help him realise what's best for his career and not for their tseph. Who help him understand that if he goes to Oly it will be a very fast move and could make his following career vanish.
