This is Taxi's moment..like for like for pace with Fortounis. There is Bouzoukis to consider on the bench.

Tziolis in as AM asap!
-
My colleague Lucia says we need an Italian to sort out our mess..I agreed seeing that Italy is formerly Greek, he would be like signing a local again. Otherwse we can make a play for Trump/Pence in future.

If they bring Tzioli$ back those responsible can eat s%$#!.

Great call on Samaris, Deano. I remember when I played team sport, in my day it was in another code, although, soccer/football has become my favourite sport in the last 8-10 years. I would look around before we play a match, and I would subtly indentify a team mate who I feel glad is in my team along side me and I would gain confidence from that. Who would Greek players basically turn around and say I am glad he is alongside me today in this match cause he gives 100% so I will play better as well? If this man can be indentified, He should be the DM in the team cause He can be a match winner or game changer. This is your DM player. Socceroos, for their lack or World Class talent, would indentify their recently retired captain Jedinak as this guy. He intimidated classier opposition players. A screener defending your CB's and goalie, someone that can make a difference. Who is that for the Galanolefki? This is Not Samaris, not a game changer, as Tzioli$ was not either..what a passenger. Could it be Siopis or Galanopoulos or a recycled Taxi with an extended go at it? The young guys like Masouras would rise to the occasion and improve plenty. I saw some highlights of Lazaros Lamprou to see what the hype is all about, he is outstanding, a natural goalscorer. If your good enough, your old enough. Like your inclusion af Galanopoulos too. I know who the right person is for RB, the player identified that gives 100% in this position. Then just back him, who are we willing to see develope in this position? What concerns me also, is that Fortounis plays wholeheartedly with the captain's armband. If Toro comes back, I would keep Fortounis as captain cause its more important your AM is firing over your RB to be firing. It would be great if they are all firing, true. So, if Toro is kept out, or play but not as the captain will Sok and Manolas cope with this and play at their best? We might have to endure some more pain, even with a new coach. No more excuses for these experienced players, they got their way with another coach coming in.

It reflects very badly on people of Greek nationality that on the sporting landscape at least, that they can play like cowards especially against Italy. Its not what our ancestory was founded on. Should replace the coach and blacklist 6-8 players, including the main Centre Backs that have been making alot of noise lately, along with the Right Back and Centre Forward that didn't get picked. Time to usher in a new dawn, with initial pain during this World Cup cycle.

A coach like Pep Guardiola would command Everyone's respect from the top to the bottom. Someone like Markarian, Skibbe, Tsanas, Anastasiadis or Ranieri would have to try to man manage Sok, Toro, Mitro, Fortounis and Manolas. Another coach like that group would not command respect from any of them. Or, the new coach can not pick them and have an u23's team. EPO might have to raid their money boxes and get a real coach instead of a hologram coach or this will continue. Before signing any contract, the next coach shortlisted must have their word that they will give him a fair go, by having a meeting over afew Frappes, and discuss philosophies going forward, or we won't defeat Faroe Is. again. Thats the reality these days.
-
why?
-
The admin should consult the senior group for input which is normal.. its good man management and an assurance the manager will get the respect.
-
I just read on The World Game that ,Ange P has been doing so well at Yokahama that he is linked to the Greece national job, and that he deserves more respect. Well there you are my fellow broskiis!!!
-
God is great..lets remember 2004; Anasasiadis is not great. remember Italy and Armenia..lets continue, Faroe Is. twice with failure coaches Way over the hill.
-
It would be good to see the players chosen fight tooth & nail, play for a coach that they approved of, buy into his systems. Senior players were not even consulted. The players have more ability than the current rubbish. I for one would like to see a fit Donis, Lamprou, Limnios, Chatzi, Bouzoukis and Bouchalakis all considered. They should bring into the squad Taxi, his passing range, height, experience and headers, and so would be more effective and creative than Samaris and Kourbelis at the very least. Even Klonaridis instead of Bakasetas is an instant upgrade.

Hey Deano, I think Tsipras should pull funds out of his orofis and get involved, including finishing the team's centre of excellence too.. Greece have paid back their osterity loans to Germany I read to my surprise, the economy improved above expectation, with a long way to go mind you, finally the government discovered that they can collect imcome and company taxes and pay debts. A decent coach approved by the core group of players is all that is needed. What I'm spewing about is that we bother to support and pick our teams on this site and these guys are playing at 50%. Portugal and Italy have their economies up their arses too but they can still pull a win out. Portugal have 10 million population, yet they can still be a footballing world force. Alot of South American countries, people don't have proper food or eat what the horses eat, yet the Greeks play like schoolboys and are coached by old uncle Spiro from up the street! Fark!!

Evangelos Grammenos went against the majority of Greek players wishes, and appointed Anastasiadis as coach last year according to Agona sports. The coach has failed to gain the trust of the senior players in particular. How can the EPO hire a coach without the blessing of Torosidis, Sokratis, Manolas, and Fortounis, the senior core group ffs?? Why are the EPO a pure Wank fest?? Everyone invests alot of energy and emotion into this team we all support, they play like s%$#!, then we all find out what a fat turd Grammenos is because of this very reason. Ange A obviously can't coach! Decisions made that are full of self interest and corruption. Fancy not consulting your most influential players about the next coach, then the players are expected to buy into this new regime. We all think the players are all systems go to win a match, yet little do we know till it all comes out later, that the players are unhappy and operating at 50% so they couldn't defeat Melbourne Victory currently, let alone Italy or Armenia. Not waking up at 4am for these cats again till I know the team are operating at 100%. I don't have trust in this team now cause I don't know how they feel behind the scenes, which will determine how hard they try. Fark them off for a while till they win.

oops, Toro plays on the right ofcourse..

Ange P changed from four at the back to three and beefed up the midfield. Socceroos took an age to master this philosophy due to lack of finishing in the front third and wrong options taken with the back three., but got there, the World Cup 2018, the long way. At Yokahama, he opted to use four at the back as it was the most suitable option there. He was abit too advanced in ideas for the Socceroos at the time. Greece may well adapt to this better, and definitely more so than Ange A's philosophy. Ange P will pick the right players in their rightful positions. He won't ask Siovas to play LB only one hour before kick off. Instead, they will work on the new formations repeatedly till they wake up and have it with their cereal in the mornings. Donis, Mitroglou and Lamprou/Limnios or Chatzigiovannis, are more than capable as a front third than Leckie Juric and Kruse were (thankfully that roos front third has changed). The Greek back four with a firing Toro, Manolas, Sokratis, and Koutris/Lykogiannis, or, back three with Manolas, Sokatis and Toro, with two Fast wingbacks should get there in reasonable time. This may suit Toro better cause his role would be as a left CB rather than in a quick LB role.
-
Bayer Leverkusen player Retsos of 2 Bundesliga and Arsenal player Mavropanos could be Greece's next successful CB pairing in 2019-20.
-
Ange would know how to start to fix this mess, he would strip it right back and make the right choices. He is not afraid to end a career or two alittle early and bring in youth. Hopefully, bring it on! Do you think Kourbelis or Galanopoulos maybe at DM? Not only that...Pelkas, Mantalos OR Bouzoukis as back up to Fortounis? Heard Bouzou is a real terrior, a worker and very fast.

To non-Greek/Aussies, Ange P won the title as captain of a team named South Melbourne, the Greek population in Melbourne as a city is the largest outside of Athens. He was an excellent CB but blew his knee I believe and retired in his mid-late twenties. He coached Brisbane in the Aleague to multiple titles, got the national job and coached (with short preperation) at the World Cup 2014..that alone is a great experience. Wasn't looked after enough by the Australian EPO named FFA, and so when Socceroos qualified for 2018, he then went to Yokahama instead of his second World Cup in 2018. He would of done better than Bert Van Marwijk did-no idea honestly. When Greece came out a couple of year ago, Ange was walking out the tunnel for the second half of one of the two matches they had vs Socceroos, he was talking to Samaris and Sokratis another time I believe, he knows most Greek players well. There is a strong desire for him to coach Ethniki at a reduced contract. This guy knows how to coach 3 at the back with quick wingbacks or four at the back. He like coaching players with speed as much as reasonably possible (Jedinak had different qualities. He chopped up attacking raids beautifully and intimidated offenses, regardless of the fact he wasn't the most accurate passer on the counter attack). The fact Ange P has vision and speaks fluent Greek and has a great knowledge of the Greek Super League, speaks volumes. He also coached Socceroos on tour in Asia and in England and where they lost 1-0; He has more on his resume that Ouzounidis and Dellas. I would back him in to do a fine job if he was chosen. I think EPO will go for Ouzounidis personally.

Well, after watching the Sokratis and Ange A interviews on Agona, these kinds of standoffs almost always end in the coach having to relinquish his post. Ok, is Basinas the new coach? Anyway, I hope this will galvanise the team and they start going forward as one for a change. There are No More Excuses by Sok, Manol and Toro; they will definitely get their way this time but there should be no excuses if they continue to produce sub standard performances going forward. If they don't aim up, bring in the next generation. This coach is more than likely not capable, its not out of the question, some of his team lineups, formations and subs leave alot to be desired. At least this explains why Sok and Manol were going like busted asses and Toro hadnot been chosen, though, Ange A did make Sok captain.. .but Sok is a reluctant captain under the circumstances.

if the ethniks lose to Armenis, Angelo is toast. He is 66 ffs, a light of other days, another Skibbe/Markarian. Primary criteria for the next coach in this revolving door of coaches, will have to be that HE MUST BE UNDER 55. Manolas is the second poorest player in the team, Samaris is the worst. They should be dropped cause they have been garbage for multiple countless matches. Greek players that play or have played in Italy (and have a good grasp of hair gel) should of been there. He wont pick Toro so the coach has to go! I would try Risvanis and Siovas with Sok on the bench actually. I dropped him from my team as a RB. Zeca is our best by a mile. He must be embarrassed that he can be that much better than the rest, infact, he is now my captain. Congratulations!
