  1. oops, Toro plays on the right ofcourse..
  2. Ange P changed from four at the back to three and beefed up the midfield. Socceroos took an age to master this philosophy due to lack of finishing in the front third and wrong options taken with the back three., but got there, the World Cup 2018, the long way. At Yokahama, he opted to use four at the back as it was the most suitable option there. He was abit too advanced in ideas for the Socceroos at the time. Greece may well adapt to this better, and definitely more so than Ange A's philosophy. Ange P will pick the right players in their rightful positions. He won't ask Siovas to play LB only one hour before kick off. Instead, they will work on the new formations repeatedly till they wake up and have it with their cereal in the mornings. Donis, Mitroglou and Lamprou/Limnios or Chatzigiovannis, are more than capable as a front third than Leckie Juric and Kruse were (thankfully that roos front third has changed). The Greek back four with a firing Toro, Manolas, Sokratis, and Koutris/Lykogiannis, or, back three with Manolas, Sokatis and Toro, with two Fast wingbacks should get there in reasonable time. This may suit Toro better cause his role would be as a left CB rather than in a quick LB role.
  3. Bayer Leverkusen player Retsos of 2 Bundesliga and Arsenal player Mavropanos could be Greece's next successful CB pairing in 2019-20.
  4. Ange would know how to start to fix this mess, he would strip it right back and make the right choices. He is not afraid to end a career or two alittle early and bring in youth. Hopefully, bring it on! Do you think Kourbelis or Galanopoulos maybe at DM? Not only that...Pelkas, Mantalos OR Bouzoukis as back up to Fortounis? Heard Bouzou is a real terrior, a worker and very fast.
  5. To non-Greek/Aussies, Ange P won the title as captain of a team named South Melbourne, the Greek population in Melbourne as a city is the largest outside of Athens. He was an excellent CB but blew his knee I believe and retired in his mid-late twenties. He coached Brisbane in the Aleague to multiple titles, got the national job and coached (with short preperation) at the World Cup 2014..that alone is a great experience. Wasn't looked after enough by the Australian EPO named FFA, and so when Socceroos qualified for 2018, he then went to Yokahama instead of his second World Cup in 2018. He would of done better than Bert Van Marwijk did-no idea honestly. When Greece came out a couple of year ago, Ange was walking out the tunnel for the second half of one of the two matches they had vs Socceroos, he was talking to Samaris and Sokratis another time I believe, he knows most Greek players well. There is a strong desire for him to coach Ethniki at a reduced contract. This guy knows how to coach 3 at the back with quick wingbacks or four at the back. He like coaching players with speed as much as reasonably possible (Jedinak had different qualities. He chopped up attacking raids beautifully and intimidated offenses, regardless of the fact he wasn't the most accurate passer on the counter attack). The fact Ange P has vision and speaks fluent Greek and has a great knowledge of the Greek Super League, speaks volumes. He also coached Socceroos on tour in Asia and in England and where they lost 1-0; He has more on his resume that Ouzounidis and Dellas. I would back him in to do a fine job if he was chosen. I think EPO will go for Ouzounidis personally.
  6. Well, after watching the Sokratis and Ange A interviews on Agona, these kinds of standoffs almost always end in the coach having to relinquish his post. Ok, is Basinas the new coach? Anyway, I hope this will galvanise the team and they start going forward as one for a change. There are No More Excuses by Sok, Manol and Toro; they will definitely get their way this time but there should be no excuses if they continue to produce sub standard performances going forward. If they don't aim up, bring in the next generation. This coach is more than likely not capable, its not out of the question, some of his team lineups, formations and subs leave alot to be desired. At least this explains why Sok and Manol were going like busted asses and Toro hadnot been chosen, though, Ange A did make Sok captain.. .but Sok is a reluctant captain under the circumstances.
  7. Ange A should seriously consider moving Sok to DM with Zeca (c) at CD and Pelkas AM; Vlaho/Pascha?Barkas...(who cares) Bakakis/Kotsiras Risvanis Siovas Koutris Sokratis Zeca (c) (Donis injured)Fortounis Pelkas Lamprou Koulouris/Florin (toss a coin) Alefantos . Manolas . Bouchalakis . Bouzoukis
  8. On the bright side, Ange A may fall on his sword (so 2 speak), after this match. Get Ange P!.. might b a good thang!
  9. if the ethniks lose to Armenis, Angelo is toast. He is 66 ffs, a light of other days, another Skibbe/Markarian. Primary criteria for the next coach in this revolving door of coaches, will have to be that HE MUST BE UNDER 55. Manolas is the second poorest player in the team, Samaris is the worst. They should be dropped cause they have been garbage for multiple countless matches. Greek players that play or have played in Italy (and have a good grasp of hair gel) should of been there. He wont pick Toro so the coach has to go! I would try Risvanis and Siovas with Sok on the bench actually. I dropped him from my team as a RB. Zeca is our best by a mile. He must be embarrassed that he can be that much better than the rest, infact, he is now my captain. Congratulations!
  10. Hey Laput..sound like me 15 years ago. anyway, I would of liked to have seen a fit and available Retsos and Mavropanos, start to get phased into this squad. I'm the only guy that thinks Manolas and Sok, these days, are no better than Oikonomou. Siovas needs to keep away from the RB position. Toro has not played so, Sok might do something there or, Lykogiannis might be good for the RB position, don't know. I also believe that Lamprou, Limnios and Galanopoulos should come into this squad too and play further up, as well. Since world cup 2010, Karagounas, Kats and Samaras went, and there have been no dominant players to lead the team since then. Still not a settled lineup, one of the longest rebuilding phases in our history. The Acropolis would not be ready today, if it took that long for the construction company to build it back then. Actually pace should be the primary criteria for the mids and front third. Technical ability comes along for the ride. Therefore, a player can thwart or stop opposition players of more ability, with pace. On another note,I would prefer Taxi to Samaris cause he cannot stamp authority on the pitch. This is not going to improve at 30 years of age. Carlos Santana Zeca shytes all over him, superior class.
  11. No player owns the jersey, everyone can lose their positions in my view. Conceding 3 goals in suc a short space of time is rediculous. Made Italy look like Germany or Netherlands. They must change things up with energy and speed in key areas, in the mids. I would go 4 2 3 1 and with this lineup asap: Vlahodimos Sok Manolas Siovas Koutris Siopis Zeca Lamprou Pelkas (Donis) Masouras Darmishaj/Koulouris Sok doesn't own a CB position, even though he plays epl Arsenal. As for that, they recently lost 4-1 to Chelsea for the record. Fortounis again too slow to threaten, time and time again...upmarket Bakasetas.
  12. We need to find the new Alexandros T$iolaras going forward. He is now......wait for it..... it's Andreas Samaris!! If Zeca plays RB, Bouchalakis should go in the mids with Kourbelis.
  13. Patritha 4 2 3 1 Vlahodimos Sokratis (vc) Manolas Siovas Koutris Zeca Kourbelis Mavrias Fortounis (c) Kolovos Donis Cannot play 3 at the back against the kings of hair gel. Kolovos is in great form and pips Masouras who is also in good form. Kourbelis just edges out Bouchalakis to play next to Carlos Santana Zeca. Koutris just egdes out Staf although not fussed with either starting.
  14. The Ethniki will need better team work and chemistry..The last match had little chemistry..like sleeping with a beautiful woman once, and having a problem going the second time round, then suggesting going for a feed at McDonalds instead. which reminds me, going to eat now.
  15. That statement is usually one way, they don't usually reciprocate the same thoughts with 'una razza una faccia".. It's more like we are the best forget about the rest. Hopefully Ethniki can play above themselves and smash the Azzuri..2-0
  16. Who has been better value, Katsouranis in his last 7 years, or Samaris in his last 7 years. I have Kats by a nose.
  17. With Toro and Mykonos missing, does this mean Sokratis is the skipper moving forward?? Im also going to ask Despina up the road.
  18. C'mon lets go!!!! No reason why Zeca can't emulate the great feats of Tziolara of recent times! Just been watching Rocky 3. C'mon!!!!
  19. I think they should start grooming a RB for when Toro calls it a day, or for when he is subtly told his time is up.
  20. KPaps doesn't make top 5 CB's for Ethniki now. Sokratis, Siovs, Manolas, Retsos & Mavropanos.
  21. Siovas hs earned a starting spot. Manolas on the bench. No player owns a Greece starting spot, its a privillege.
  22. Prefer to play Italy or Bosnia Lazo, instead of Faroe Is...they beat us twice.
  23. Ethniki will keep improving as Samaris and Zeca keep clicking together, as they are in great form. The engine room has been the weakest link in this team for the longest time. Also, we need the injured players back on deck and to keep Marouras/Kolovos on one wing and Donis on the other as well. The team looks happy to be around each other. I admire Ange A for trying 3 defenders at the back, changing up the systems. He also made the perfect substitutions in particular, against Bosnia-Herts. Positive signs ahead.
  24. Ange A was quoted mentioning he would of picked Florin Darmishaj for both recent matches. Would he of chosen Mitroglou, Koulouris and Darmishaj, or just the two strikers? Koulouris has great scoring form this season. Mitro may have missed out altogether.
