  1. The AE Pontion Iraklis Katerini, also known as Iraklis Thessaloniki has been relegated from Football League and now there are rumors that they will try to buy the tax ID number of the newly promoted to Superleague team NFC Volos (or New Football Club Volos). Apparently the starting bids are around 3 million Euro, since Apollon Smyrnis is also interested in that tax number so they can remain in Superleague. Needless to say that NFC Volos is nothing than FC Pydna Kitros whose tax ID number was purchased by a Achilleas Beos, a person that did jail time for match fixing and renamed them NFC Volos. The team has no fans at all and only the player's relatives were attending their game in Football League.
  2. Crespo's views on the final:
  3. Found the perfect place to play the Greek Cup final:
  4. Last season in the Greek Cup many 3rd division did not apply to play in the cup despite the fact that they could according to the Greek Cup rules. However they decided not to citing the high cost of application fee. I don't remember any of those teams being punished with fines and/or point deductions. There is a precedent. Now in Greece anything is possible depending on who runs the show, so it's always possible they can invent any rules to suit their purpose.
  5. I am not saying not to play on Saturday. I am talking about the next season's Greek Cup. Can't be punished if you don't enter the competition and pay the entrance fee. Agree on the other points, but if the police did their work there would never be any problems in the stadiums. The police is actually part of the problem.
  6. Assuming Barcelona wins the CL and Ajax the Dutch title here are the confirmed PAOK opponents in the 3rd qualifying round: Ajax Amsterdam Celtic Glasgow FC Copenhagen Dinamo Zagreb Bate Borisov unknown at present
  7. Completed the title conquest undefeated. Only done once before in 1964 by Panathinaikos when it was way easier to accomplish such a feat. Our record is better and I can't see how it can be broken in the near future.
  8. What a joke. Greek police gets cuts from the ticket sales in order guarantee safety at the stadiums and then they have the audacity to claim that they can't guarantee that the final can be played safely. The Greek government (Vasiliadis) playing political games by excluding fans from the game that should be a showcase of Greek football. EPO that has no balls to tell the idiots from the government to take a hike and have the game be played with fans, even if it means playing the game outside Greece. Also EPO should go to UEFA and complain about governmental interference in the game of football. The Greek Cup is slowly becoming a farce. If I was PAOK, I would not enter the competition next season in protest. Can't really say I will enjoy watching the game on Saturday.
  9. Why not just play Lyratzis. It almost a meaningless game.
  10. Tomorrow is the meeting to determine the details of the final. The politician wants the easy way out and have the game played without fans. Apparently if that is the case PAOK will ask to have the game moved out of Athens to a neutral venue. They are promising that VAR will be used at this game, but I would not hold my breath. The fact that a foreign ref will call the game is a big step in the right direction.

  12. Off topic discussion was moved to the Other Teams/Other Leagues thread. Let's continue this thread discussing the Champions of Greece in football.
  13. We had a bigger financial problem because we are a much bigger team then the other three teams in the city. And what "strange things" did happen? The fans basically kept the team afloat with season tickets and purchase of team shares. And then the savior showed up and rescued the team by paying off the debt. The question you (and the others) should be asking why hasn't a savior come to rescue your team using the law of the land to pay off the debt that you had?
  14. Don't have to try at all to do that. For the past 10 year both those teams (and I will include Kalamaria in as well) tried their very best to exterminate themselves from the face of the earth on their own.
  15. I am almost certain we will play next season at Toumba. Apparently thge Undersecretary of Sports is dragging their feet as far as Kaftanzoglio stadium is concerned. PAOK wants to start work that they will pay for it to meet UEFA standards for CL, but they don't even want to talk about it.
  16. Djalma Campos escaped death in the car crash in Turkey that claimed the life of Czech player Josef Sural.
  17. I still see no reason why we got Zivkovic though. Paschalakis, Melisas and a prospect from the youth team would have been ok with me.
  18. We have pretty much 75% chance of starting the campaign in qualifying round 3. It all depends on Ajax. The most ideal scenario is for Ajax to win CL and Dutch title. That way we avoid a Dutch team (Ajax or Eidhoven) in the qualifying campaign. The second ideal scenario is for Barca, Liverpool or Tottenham to win the CL, but then we have the possibility of facing the Dutch champion in the qualifying rounds, which basically means we will not make the group stage of CL for sure. In this scenario we need Tottenham to finish in top 4 of Premier League, which is almost certain as Arsenal shot themselves in the foot over the weekend.
  19. It's quite obvious that Rey is not liked by Lucescu and PAOK is not going to keep a player paying him 500K to sit on the bench. I see him being sold and/or loaned. With Zivkovic coming in and Rey leaving we save 200K. We save another 500K by finally getting rid of Glykos whose contract expires. The goalie roster for next season will be: Paschalakis (450K), Zivkovic (300K), Melisas (100K)
  20. Good for Vladan. There is always a chance we will meet Maccabi in the CL qualifying campaign.
  21. I've been to Vancouver. Very nice city. Had a good time there. Once there you need to take the ferry boat to Vancouver Island.
  22. Three game before the first EURO game in June is fine. The last club game in Greece is the Greek Cup on May 11. That means there is almost a full month before the game with Italy. You don't want the players to be without any game action for that long.
  23. EPO does not want that. And why would they. They will make a hefty profit if the stadium is full. The secretary of sports wants empty stadium.
  24. Looks like the game against Turkey will be played on May 30 and will take place most likely at Antalya, Turkey according to latest reports.
  25. She is in the process of getting Greek citizenship so she can compete for Greece. One of the biggest talents in Greek track & field.
