  1. thankfully we have never had that kind of problem, to my knowledge. last year was a disappointment but the problems ran much deeper than just hating the idea of playing in europe. our team should be hungry this year and thus far, i believe tudor has done well to inspire them to positive football in most cases--exactly as you said, to play without fear. i'm still not going to make any expectations about the results of the matches against dortmund, but we won't just roll over and die.
  2. my thoughts exactly. we get to try ourselves against dortmund for a challenge and then we have a few games where if we execute our gameplan we should have no trouble.
  3. unbelievable. al-ahli. wtf is with these players... i hope he at least made a fortune from this. <<
  4. he's in first by quite some margin (nine matches) if you include games from the days the competition was called UEFA cup. he is also in second place for goals scored if you include UEFA cup matches, though these stats are all strictly for group stage games.
  5. DOPE there's lots of recent buddies here again. ajax, spurs, fenerbahce, villareal, rubin...
  6. all the
  7. Boakye could be a good addition I think. powerful shot and pretty good in the air. I'd like to keep pereyra and hope he regains form, he was able to score some pretty timely goals for us and would be very useful in the squad or even starting. but he does not appear to be in the team's plan.
  8. ^i actually met and heard about more greek researchers while i was doing my thing at MGH. they get good educations in greece but no jobs obviously. my mom was 13 months old when her parents moved here in the early 60s. funny that you mention it Pontos, my
  9. i agree. there's no need to rush the new guys in when you have an
  10. they play tavli in brighton at some "soccer club" on washington st. i saw them once with my own eyes. i didn't dare go inside. top idea to split a case of retsina though! weird looks that i'll get for having it as my go-to pregaming or soccer-watching drink be damned.
  11. just when i had thought i'd seen everything. maybe we could get them to fashion suarez a mouthguard. o wait but speaking of
  12. what, are the games not broadcast on metropolis 95,5 anymore?
  13. well fack i forgot about that slight technicality dammit haha. that means i'll just have to get on the greek radio.
  14. we should still win this despite the missing players. i was heavily debating not watching the SL this year but the recent european whooping has me in a good mood, so...
  15. what if i told you... I was both from MA and a student :o i've been around boston for six years going on seven
  16. i live in the south end these days. it looks easier to get to roslindale from here than it did from allston. orange line all the way to forest hills followed by a bus ride. often worth a visit to that neighborhood anyhow--where else around here can you find real galaktoboureko and such? short of baking it yourself...
  17. Gyro City is my go-to, i think the guy who runs the place is from skiathos and he also has a kid from thessaloniki working in there. so of course they have the authentic product. but what's this about a place in roslindale? with a PAOKtzi running the show? finally a place to congregate for games?
  18. fair point, but i don't know, it could just be mak makes them look that way ;)
  19. we did very well today but i am convinced that last year's team would have found a way to either lose or tie this game. we should not get too hyped up this early i guess, but it's hard not to feel like things are at least trending in the right direction with this kind of performance. it's true that brondby are european minnows (even by our standards) but i think they are better than many teams in the soupa ligk. give a few more years for some of these guys (including those not playing today) to develop and gel and then we could really see something. especially if tudor can give us some stability at the manager position.
  20. HAT TRICK HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. too easy. he went five-hole on the goalie off a great breakaway pass that he caught just outside the blue line B) no slacking off now though, keep the clean sheet! 4-0!
  22. rodrigues pots one off the counter attack that caught the brondby back line flat-footed. fantastic.
  23. it's true that we should be dominating them, but we should have dominated plenty of teams last year and we didn't. it's refreshing to see us winning games that we should!
  24. if i wasnt in the library i'd consider that. 3-5-2 looks nice
  25. guys is it me or do we look like an actual team today
