  1. Were those players already established?  I can sign Ronaldo and Messi if you give me enough money.

They were all established to some degree, but so does my 45 year old mate who is still playing seniors here for my local club and has done for more than 500 games. If you mean how many weren't superstars yet? I'd say Essien, Mikel, Ivanovic, Sturridge and Matic.

  2. I think when we first got him and someone (Boston?) said similar things, my response was "We could do worse than Chelsea dropouts." To be honest, I still kind of believe that.

As for Michel - if he's inexperienced, then it stands to reason he should find an experienced coach. Tudor was selected specifically because he was so new; he also had absolutely no control over transfers.

I think Doxa also said this.

In Arnesen's defence the highlights of the Chelsea transfers during 2005-2010

    Asier Del Horno

    Shaun Wright Phillips

    Michael Essien

    Michael Ballack

    John Obi Mikel

    Ashley Cole

    Florent Malouda

    Nico Anelka

    Branislav Ivanovic

    Jose Bosingwa

    Deco

    Daniel Sturridge

    Nemanja Matic

There are just as many flops in the list but you can't say that he is incapable of picking any decent players. However I do think his strike rate this year was off

  3. there would be quite a simple way to remove marinakis from the equation if everyone had the stones to do it.

if the other 3 were to break away and make a 'premier league' separate from the rest of the greek system and drag connected teams [even if they are in B ethniki] just like the top flight english clubs did. Just don't extend an invite to marinakis

EPO would eventually fall into line

and yes I realise that that is asking for a hell of a lot of common sense and logic from everyone involved, but you can only hope

  4. Been looking back at the game and clips. The Mak Penalty claim was definitely a penalty. Stonewall.

What do you guys think about this claim by Fortounis earlier in the match:

looks like a decent shove to me, although the camera is from a difference. had I been reffing I would have paid it.

  5. I'd be pissed too if i was a youth in Greece.

The country is F***ed and the football is supposed to be a place to get away from it all, but they go there and its the same f***en s%$#!

What you're saying is sort of correct, but what happened here in australia when a lot of our clubs were kicked out of the national league. I didn't riot and rip s%$#! up. If I want to watch a game of football I will go and watch my local team or go and play, I wont go to the FFA and set it alight

  6. Funny you should say young and dumb - I was just reading an article a few days ago that spoke of how young men are especially predisposed to becoming extremists. It doesn't take much to become a hooligan - I'm not even that far out from what I assume are the ages of the people tossing chairs, so I kind-of get it. We've all been that age. But we just need to be clear here: it is not acceptable to do this stuff.

One more time? It is not acceptable.

Yeah, but - NO, it is not acceptable.

Hey Pash, is it cool to riot?

No, stranger, it is not. It is really really really simple.

    But they're winning a game!

    DO NOT RIOT YOU IDIOTS

    But it's like they're insulting us!!!!1!!111!!one!!!!

    STILL NO ###### EXCUSE.

  7. as far as location goes, it's probably a better option than thermi. thermi is only accesible directly from halkidiki, the new proposed site is more accessible to the other outlying areas.

  8. What's the impetus for a new stadium anyway ?  If you take say Arsenal as an example, they needed more capacity so they could generate more revenue.  But even if we had a new stadium it's not like we would suddenly have it full for each game.  Sure it'd look pretty, but I don't see how it would improve the bottom line.

As to how to build it, the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) was a roughly 100,000 seat stadium and they did it in two stages I believe.  Basically knocked down one half of the stadium, rebuilt it and then did the other half.  Of course, this is Greece we're talking about so I don't even know why I'm mentioning this.  For anyone wondering what cricket is, it's a game that is played over 5 days and can still end up in a draw.

the only reason you do this is to add more corporate facilities

  9. So Wikipedia shows that this guy has no experience as a technical director or scout or anything of the sorts... This seems like a classic PAOK move.

He worked for seven years as the "FC Shakhtar International Competitions Department Director", now what that means is up to interpretation, it could be the guy who organises flights when they are in euro comps or it could mean he was in charge of scouting overseas leagues. This isn't a classic PAOK move, the classic PAOK move was firing Frank Arnesen, if this was classic PAOK we would have rehired Vryzas.
