  1. so we are missing * (for various reasons)

K.Pap, siovas, Manolas, Fortounis, Mitro, Karelis, Kone, Fetfa, Petsos..

    + for first game....

    Tziolis, Aravidis, Tzavellas, Mandalos, Bakasetas.

    have I missed anyone???

I'd say 5 first 11 walk up starters...

that is a first XI that should be doing so much better. Even if it has a weakness in the attacking mid/wide positions

  2. I wouldn't usually give much credit to an interim manager, in most cases teams seem to perform better when someone new is brought in. However in the 9 games we've played since he's taken over we've improved much more than I thought we would. We've conceded only 5 goals, (3 came in that disappointing league performance in Nea Smyrni), which is very impressive, especially when you consider how bad we've been defensively over the past few years, just this season we copped the same number of goals as Iraklis (12th) and Xanthi (13th).

    Results:

    League

    Panaitolikos 0 - PAOK 3

    PAOK 3 - Kalloni 0

    Panionios 3 - PAOK 1

    Platanias 0 - PAOK 0

    Playoffs

    PAOK 2 - AEK 1

    Panathinaikos - 1 PAOK 1

    Panionios 0 - PAOK 2

    PAOK 2 - Panionios 0

    AEK 0 - PAOK 0

    5 wins 1 loss 3 draws GS - 14 GA - 5

Let's hope he and the team continue their good run of form and get the result we need against PAO.

hopefully if he is retained this will translate into next season and we give the qualifiers a good shake

  3. LOL who tf are they?

A club with a richer history than half the teams playing in the premier league right now and a better stocked trophy cabinet. They are also in all likelihood wealthier than all the teams in the Greek superleague combined barring olympiakos

  4. patience I have, hope I have even faith I have, but belief no.

a wise man once told me to measure twice and cut once [he also said kai prosekse na min kopseis ta dachtyla sou kosta], no one at the club at the moment has the foresight to measure at all, they just cut and when it doesn't fit throw it out and start again.

  5. Personally, if Michel can get us one or two decent players this summer, and minimize the loss of any of our better players, I will be happy. I'd rather the team have some stability and time to gel than have them bring in a full new team's worth of guys.

judging by history the opposite will happen

  6. Nobody who has some brain left in his head writes us off like we were nothing. We had this season only one defeat against Krasnodar, and we're talking here about one of our worst seasons for the last years.

No one is writing us off, but let's be realistic here, we shouldn't be aiming to have a team that can qualify 'if everything goes right' we need to be aiming for a team that matches those teams even on an average day.

Can we beat any of those teams? Yes. Are we likely to? Hell no.

  7. I think it is totally unfair to write PAOK off already for next season in Europe..... A new coach will be appointed, fresh deadwood will be brought in, and the old deadwood will be hauled off. Can't say that Ajax or whatever team would walk all over a PAOK team that has not even been put together yet.....

    Pana, corrected for accuracy

This is the thing pana, you can't just build a team and say 'right boys welcome to thessaloniki, we are playing against AJAX next week, they have 8 of their starting XI returning from last year and one of their three new players is brought up from the academy, now find your translator and introduce yourselves to your new teammates, we have 4 training sessions between now and next week to work out how we fight 15 full backs into our lineup, I know if you just try really really hard we can win'

  8. sheriff is right, what does it matter if Ajax are weaker than they were 6 years ago when if you compare our team to what it was 6 years ago......hmmm whats a good analogy here, oh I know boston thanatos said it best

"It's like comparing The Golden State Warriors to a YMCA league of retarded midgets with no arms..."

  9. Let's play the "what iF" game. Here are some "what if"'s:

What if we had a proper coach?  That played the logical line-ups?  That didn't send (arguably) Pereyra away?

What if Lucas honored his contract and stayed this year?

What if Olsen found form early on, and didn't single handedly cost us a minimum of 15 points?

What if Savvidis used the $1.5M on  a good CB and 10ari?

We'd still end up second and stuffing it up in the playoffs

  10. I can't see Klaus staying if he's not going to be our first choice. The chinese paid 2,5 million for Giannou so hopefully they can make an offer around 4-5 million for Klaus.

Dutch Eagle// He scored 5 of those 13 goals in one match in the cup.

Klaous will not go to China, the chinese paid 2.5 million for Giannou because he is Australian and in the asian conference you can have 3 foreigners +1 asian conference foreigner. For Klaous to go he would be taking the place of a Brazilian/Argentine/Italian/Spaniard in other words no chance. Giannou was fighting for his spot against the likes of australians/japanese [who dont really go to chinese teams] and koreans. The pool of players to choose form between the two is vastly different and Klaous is not that good.

  11. Now that AEK won the Greek Cup, they hold the good ticket for Europa League, PAOK two goals in the playoffs should be to win the playoffs and not finish in last place.

By winning the playoffs we will go to CL qualifying round 3. Second and third place in playoffs will give us a ticket to the 3rd qualifying round of EL as long as AEK does not win the playoffs.

There is a slight chance that a second place in the playoffs might lead to the group stage of EL, but for that to happen, AEK would have to win the playoffs and Seville would have to win both the Europa League and the Spanish Cup.

    this hurt my brain

  12. Nea Bafra, again illegal to do if you follow the correct laws, unless the game is set for 10.30pm on the 31st (48 hours from last match finished) it cannot be played on this date and will need to be played 1st June.

Also just found out 7 players selected for Greece (AEK, PAO , PAOK players) wont play in the 1st match vs the Aussies, but will be here for the 2nd match in Melbourne.....

I was being a shifty Greek, your original statement did not say 48 hours from the end of the previous game, just cannot be scheduled and games are scheduled by their start time not their finish time.

as for the second part of your comment, no one cares about Sydney anyway.

  13. And just to add the last game of the playoffs by law cannot by played on the 31st, rules state that no game can be scheduled within 48 hours of the last game played so surely that will be played 1st June.

just start the games at 9pm
