I am fine with us not agreeing! And I LIKE Pereira, but everyone wants a cleanout so I had to make up the numbers somewhere. Personally I think Vieirinha should not be playing in that position at all. I also do not put much stock in "passion" being the reason why someone should start in a derby (*coughvieirinhacough*). Give me a professional who has legs any day.

Looks like Schwab may be getting his first callup in four years. VERY well-deserved IMO. I think he was one of our best signings this summer (don't @ me people)
-
Mihaj still training individually (which is what you'd expect considering the seriousness of his injury), but he seems to be running. I have high hopes for this guy, and wouldn't be surprised if we ditch one or two of our current CBs in the summer (particularly if Blackhawk's theory on Michailidis being on the outs is correct).

Oh yeah Vieirinha too. He doesn't physically have what he once did, but I think there's still plenty of value there. If Lamprou were to hypothetically get cut, there's no reason why Vieirinha couldn't be that 60th minute sub each time. Let him be explosive for half an hour instead of trying to keep up with 20-year-olds for 90 minutes at LB.

It's basically the entire reason he went there. We offered a raise but you just can't compete with that kind of money. Hell, even at 50% wages you can probably find someone as good or better. Never get back with your ex!

All it takes is one poor season for his value to drop and for offers to dry up. Happened with Klaus, Jaba, Pelkas, Limnios, etc etc etc. It would be logical for them to try to retain him, but if the sums get too ridiculous, then they'd be foolish not to accept it. Personally, I think he plays in a position that is easily to find replacements for. I do agree that there are a number of players we can get rid of. Augusto, Jaba, Lamprou, Murg, Ninua, Pereira, and Michailidis are all underachieving (though they all have the potential to be pretty good). I like Swiderski and Soares a LOT more than most people here, but if we had the cash to get big upgrades for them, then why not? Right now, the only players that I think are consistently good in the squad are Krmencik, Zivkovic, Warda, Schwab, Tzolis, Ingason, and Zivkovic. Maybe throw Tsiggaras in there too, at least lately.

Mauricio in his last year was heavily in decline IMO, but I agree with that point. I don't think Soares is bad, but Matos was just on another level. Sometimes Soares does a great job though (and I think if he was not injured this summer, we'd have made it to the CL). bluevertigo - Tzolis is not here for the long term. We can't retain players when the big dogs who play in well-run leagues come and poach them. Keep them for too long, and they are more likely to drop in value than increase, too. I don't like the riskiness that comes with that.

Looks like Pelkas is fine. Was knocked out, apparently no concussion, but did bite his tongue (don't laugh, we don't know how much damage there is there - I cringe at that thought).

Agreed. What's more likely? That all of those people with all that experience are suddenly incompetent? Or that the club's culture is the actual problem? Institutions have their own culture, and changing that is a fraught and perilous process. I think it's clear that most teams in Greece need to do it, and that includes us.
-
If we get our alleged price for Tzolis, we would be able to restock pretty nicely.
-
Ouch, hopefully there are no lasting injuries there...
-
Well the season's over in a few weeks so it probably doesn't matter either way, but Nurnberg already announced him?
-
While I was typing that I missed who the red just went to??
-
So why wouldn't the goalie holding onto the ball at this point be a yellow? How is it anything but blatant time wasting?
-
5 min stoppage
-
Beautifully done by Ingason
-
Baba shoulda started Though good save by Vieirinha just now
-
Massive save by Zivkovic, yikes
-
LET'S GOOO
-
Yeah we def should fire someone who's doing better than his potential replacement
-
For sure. I still think they'd be nuts to get rid of him but what do I know.
-
The rumors re: Douglas and Corinthians are starting up again, too
-
Yikes. No way Boloni stays now
-
Swiderski called up as well
-
The shorter Zivkovic seems to have been called up for his NT. I think it's been a while, hasn't it? Good on him.
