  1. I wouldn't mind that line up in March. But we score most of our goals from set pieces and the lack of height in that team could cost us. This team looks like it would do well with nice passes and strikers running into space. Defensively it looks safe especially with Siopis in the middle running everywhere but again we need some tall players to defend and attack set pieces.
  2. Kitsiou I rated a long time ago. Bakakis and Lykogiannis need to be tried. Koutris has a future. We have leftbacks we also have some right backs. By the biggest issue and the reason why this topic is here is that we will probably not have a decent enough replacement for Mitroglou. Old strikers such as Charisteas, Gekas, Vryzas, Nikolaidis and Salpingidis are all legends and have retired. Now we have Karelis who is injury prone and Donis who is currently injured. I believe in the future we will have midfielders than can pass a ball unlike Tziolis and have more of a brain unlike Samaris and Tziolis. Samaras was very good in that sole striker position. Mitroglou is very slow. I know he is a target man but with our current midfield like Samaris, Tachtisidis and Tziolis where will the goals come from. These midfielders mentioned play very one dimensional at times and with a static striker like Mitroglou it's very easy for opposing defenders to close down. We need to fix this problem as we will not score and therefore not be in major tournaments. The full back position is the least of our problems.
  3. We all have the same idea about our current line up. I'd like to know what suggestions or predictions we have on this forum for our future national team. At the moment players like Fortounis, Sokratis, Manolas, Zeca, Mantalos and Mitroglou have their positions covered for the next 5-6 years. But alot of things can happen. I am very optimistic and proud of our nation as I want our players to be at their best and keep on improving. I want the best for our players and I'm sure everyone agrees. At first I didn't think Mavropanos had what it takes to make it big one day. But now I'm starting to want the best for him as he signed with Arsenal. I rated Hatzidiakos and Nikolaou higher than him and it came as a surprise that he was bought from Arsenal. I believe with the talent and depth that we have at Centre back we are secure for the next 10-15 years. I wish I could say the same for our strikers. Even at the Goalkeeping position we look like we will have good depth. So I have decided to make a starting 11 for the future. Say in 5 or 6 years we could see this team. Kapino/Barkas Retsos Mavropanos Manolas Stafylidis Kourbelis Galanopoulos Fortounis Pelkas/Kampetsis Donis. Douvikas Other players: Gianniotis, Mandas, Tsintotas, Risvanis, Papadopoulos, Siopis, L.Lamprou, Karelis, Nikolaou, Masouras, Manthatis, Limnios, Mantalos, Emmanoulidis, P.Selkos (look him up), Androutsos, Vrakas, Tsimikas, Goutas, Tzanetopoulos, Giannoulis, Bakasetas. This is based on my prediction and also suggestions for our future teams. There some players from the u20s league and also players who play for u19s national team. Sokratis can still be around as well as Tachtsidis. Samaris can also be in the team as well as Bakakis, Lykogiannis and Koutris. There will probably be more players from Oly, Pao, Aek and Paok youth players coming up. There are also young players playing in Atromitos as rotational players as well.
  4. He is not needed and never was. We have better players.
  5. Everyone should read this. http://m.sport24.gr/Files/oi-ypopshfioi-gia-thn-ananewmenh-ethnikh-elladas.4993709.html Talks about how Skibbe wants to try new players and that he doesn't have to call up players like Manolas, Sokratis and Mitroglou because he relies on them and they don't have to play. Also talks about various options Skibbe could choose in the next friendlies before the competitive games in September.
  6. Your missing a LB. The way they team is set up is solid. I just hope the next time we play we don't see Tziolis, Maniatis and Tzavellas.
  7. I don't think in my opinion Mitroglou will beat Anastopoulos record. I agree with what you said about the way we play hurts our strikers. This needs to change. I also believe we will create more with Karelis and Donis playing because of their off the ball movement and speed. Skibbe has said he wants to integrate Karelis back in the team. He should be also integrating different midfielders as well. Karelis or Mitroglou can't lift the team by themselves when they don't have good enough service.
  8. But how good is he? I don't watch the Dutch League so I can't say if he is worth being in the team. All I know is we have Retsos, Sokratis, Papadopoulos and Manolas. Unless Skibbe will experiment like he has said.
  9. It was a good goal aswell.
  10. I don't think he needs to be called up. With Retsos and Siovas as backups to our 3 centrebacks he is not needed. I believe Retsos will have a better career than Sokratis. His market value is already at 18million and he's still 19. With his value he should always be in the national team.
  11. I have the feeling we will see the same old boring football in these friendlies instead of new talent, who have a brain and know how to attack. I hope Im wrong. If I see Tziolis and Maniatis again I'm seriously considering not watching the national team.
  12. I agree that we won't a player of Mitroglou quality who is strong and a target man. Hope we will get more agile strikers who are fast and make runs continuously. Mitroglou is good but lacks in these departments. We need someone like Alexis Sanchez. Maybe after he is finished we can move into 2 strikers. I liked the way Diamantakos used to play for Olympiakos. But lately he hasn't shown much and it's disappointing as i thought he would turned into a star striker.
  13. According to Transfermarkt website Douvikas has a higher market value than Kampetsis. So Douvikas looks like he will progress faster than Kampetsis. We do have Karelis and Donis but do they score a lot of goal the way Mitroglou does? They are both young and have time especially Donis. Karelis has proven in 1 season in Belgium he can finish. Donis hasn't got the amount of goals needed to replace Mitroglou but has the potential to lead the team. Plus he has a lot if time as he is only 21.
  14. An interesting read. http://www.agonasport.com/agonasport-allnews/after-mitroglou-who-the-disappearance-of-the-greek-striker
  15. I saw the preview of the game from a Greek channel on YouTube. The reporter tried to talk with some guy walking in the stadium and at the bottom of the t.v it said he was a udinese scout.
  16. There was a Udinese scout at the Lamia Vs Panathinaikos game. Also why has Charisis been playing on the wing for his club? He is not that fast to play there. Central Midfield is his position.
  17. Kone has played as a deep midfielder alongside Simoes and has done well there. Maybe it's time to try different players in the centre of midfield. Zeca would be the the starter alongside any one of Kone/Samaris/Tachtsidis/Kourbelis or Siopis. Also Kone is getting older now so he shouldnt be on the wing. He might be lucky that Johanson and Mantalos are injured.
  18. I'd like to see Kone and Zeca in the midfield. Two fighters who won't stop at nothing. Add Pelkas, Fortounis and Donis to the mix and we have an attacking line up with players who are very good technically. Mitro/Kareli Doni Fortouni Pelka Kone Zeca Stafy Mano Sokrati Toro/Bakaki Karnezi
  19. Fetfatzidis is a better version than Gianniotas. Similar playing styles but Fetfatzidis is more effective. I agree that Pelkas can be effective on the wing as I would put him now realistically to play on the wing instead of Mantalos. But Fetfatzidis is more creative and skillful than all those players mentioned.
  20. Pelkas and Fortounis play behind the striker. Gianniotas is Fetfatzidis 2.0. Lazaros is good but didn't play well against Croatia. Fetfatzidis plays well when playing for Greece. Look at the game against Hungary. Stafylidis is not more effective than Fetfatzidis on the wing. Stafylidis is not as technical as him.
  21. Which wingers and attacking midfielders are better than Fetfatzidis? How many wingers at a top level do we have? He has been doing well lately or I should say for a while. The lack of depth is crazy. We can't afford to be playing players who won't live up to the task of creating and scoring goals.
  22. Who knows. We won't get anywhere playing the likes of Mantalos, Stafylidis or Zeca on the wing. I said the reason why he doesn't play is because he is unlucky. There is also no reason to play Tziolis when you have more talented players like Samaris, Tachtsidis, Zeca, Kourbelis, Siopis and even Vasilakakis. Also why not give Fetfatzidis a shot. Maybe it is a bad example to the younger talent to try him because he is 26 and the league he plays in. I really don't know what you have against Gianniotas. To me if he comes on and does more than Mantalos, Stafylidis and Zeca in the space of 20 minutes to me that shows he has what it takes to be in this team.
  23. Well I'm eager to know who is at international level with our players. With your argument most of our players are not international level. I know for sure Tziolis shouldn't be playing. Surely Skibbe knows that Pelkas can play on the wing. I'm not sure why he never chose him during the campaign. What does he see in Vellios, Diamantakos and Tziolis? I believe Gianniotas is a good player. I say that because he was breath of fresh air to watch and see an actual winger do what a winger is suppose to do. The reason to why he doesn't play is based on luck. You can't say he is not good, but we are all entitled to our opinions as I am sure Gianniotas can offer us something from the bench.
  24. It's a shame he hasn't been playing much lately. I really thought he would become a regular for this team and put in good performances. He is a good midfielder. His slowness might be a problem. But he is way more clever with the ball than Tziolis or Maniatis.
  25. I really doubt that Fetfatzidis can't crack a team in say Belgium. The problem is no one really knows why he plays there. Sure the money would be good. But it's not like he wasn't earning enough playing for Olympiakos. Maybe it's the laziness. Hopefully that is not the case. Gianniotas atleast is playing in Europe. We really haven't got depth apart from centre back. Something needs to change and it needs to change quick. This is what I believe has done damage to us by not making the World Cup.
