  1. Exactly. Nobody cares about ND, Pasok, Golden Dawn, Petro the barber etc... Just calling a spade a spade. Syriza is a bunch of College radicals. Talking about Germany in the 1940's doesn't take away from Greek incompetence. They couldn't even balance a roll of quarters. Who would think a country in 2015 would run out paper so they can't print newspapers. How screwed up is that.
  2. The parliament speaker Zoe Konstantopoulou is batshit crazy. She would make Fidel Castro look like a reformer. Greece does need humanitarian aid. If you have cancer, you're out of luck. No medicine. How sad is that. This bank closure basically killed the country. Funny they were on pace for GDP growth this year now of course they are lining up at ATM's to get out $60. Sad.
  3. What recovery? You can't be serious with all the suffering going on right now. You are starting to sound like the Iraqi Information Minister.
  4. We aren't at zero. Going from 800 Eu pension to the buying power of 200 Eu is a huge hit. Then you guys keep mentioning growth but I see no specifics. Growth from what industry? Tourism is at record levels so that won't help much. Greece hasn't had industry since the 70's. What is going to grow? I'm curious. Slogans and blind patriotism doesn't put food on the table.
  5. If reducing the average pension to 800 euros is so painful, how painful will it be if you switch to drachma and have the buying power of 200 euro? Is Greece better with 13% unemployment and 500 euro salaries with the new currency? If the youth don't want to work for 650 a month, how would they feel about 500 a month in drachmas?
  6. That's the only way. You need to be trusted first. Rumors are a summit will be held on Greece this Sunday. Will the banks make it to Sunday?
  7. There seems to be a slight hope that the new FM made a good presentation. But will The Syriza boneheads ruin it by calling the EU terrorists and making other inappropriate remarks?
  8. Complete chaos today. Syriza is talking about nationalizing the banks now. http://www.antenna.gr/news/m/article?aid=415232
  9. I didn't win anything. It's disappointing that Greece is on the brink and they show up without proposals. Show some urgency and respect to the other member nations. It's 5 months straight of wasting time and playing games.
  10. From Eleni Varvitsiotis. She just tweeted it
  11. Greece showed up with no proposal to present today. Wow. The lack of urgency by Greece is beyond belief.
  12. At this point accepting it will be the only way out especially since he has everyone on board (well except for KKE and GD). They can all share the blame in this. There is no way he can continue playing hardball with no money. Its not like they are capable of moving out of the Euro to a new currency. I don't think Syriza is capable of running a peanut stand.
  13. Some of the "experts" are saying that Greece will end up accepting the offer that was put on the table a few weeks ago. The one that was voted for on the referendum. Pretty confusing.
  14. I thought that link from Fidel Castro was a joke but it was real. Unbelievable.
  15. Europe is squeezing these idiots hard right now. Nobody cares about the "mandate". I mean I don't like paying my bills every month either and if their was a mandate on if I liked paying my bills I would vote "OXI" too. Interesting press release today by the ECB. Pretty much tells the Greek banks to get lost and one of the 4 major banks has no physical money. The Greek newspapers only have enough paper to print for this week and then they have no paper.
  16. If they don't open the banks by Friday, Greece will need humanitarian help. Already hearing from pharmacists medications for cancer, thyroid, and insulin is out of stock. Funny how the "Rock Star" quit today I loved this http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2015/07/06/hours-after-exit-varoufakis-emerges-as-ministerofawesome/ Got his 6 months of world wide publicity and now off to give speeches and sell books and make millions while Greece suffers. Another SCUM who took advantage of the Greek people.
  17. Jvc, Just some advice. You're showing your youth right now. Take a few deep breaths and realize this isn't a sporting event. There is no negotiations planned for tomorrow between Greece and the EU. Their is a Eurogroup meeting planned for Tuesday and a possible summit on Greece later this week. The head banker of Greece was just quizzed on ERT and he only could say that the ATM's will be working tomorrow and nothing further. Please don't gloat and act like you won. Nobody won tonight. Greece is a miserable country and will be for years. More austerity is on the way.
  18. I'm surprised that after 34 pages, nobody has mentioned to switch the currency to bitcoin.
  19. No way. Banks will remain shut for a while. Capital controls will be in place for weeks if not months.
  20. Greece will wake up tomorrow to closed banks. This vote means nothing except to allow Syriza to last another day. The doomsday scenario happened this week.
  21. Will be an ugly week for Greece. Frozen economy. The OXI people will quickly tap out with no money this week. Note to all you youngsters out there. Save your money and make sure you control your financial destiny. You don't want to be like Greece and put into a corner with no other options.
  22. A 100% haircut won't work with Greece. They spend more than they bring in. They just hired 2000 more government workers last month.
  23. Here is the results link http://ekloges.ypes.gr/current/e/public/index.html?lang=en#%7B%22cls%22:%22main%22,%22params%22:%7B%7D%7D The Polls are saying "No" will win by 3-4 points.
  24. Jim I agree with you here. Some of the posters on this board are either young or far removed from Greece and do not know any better. Its like the people at the church who mean well but they can't speak more than "Ti Kaneis" and their only exposure to Greece was a 1 week vacation in 2003 on some group tour. They don't understand everyday Greek life and all the obstacles and crap people have to go through to get anything done or all the corruption. I'm not dissing anyone with their opinion but its obvious that some people are not in the know and try to use United States capitalism and Greek governing which that is like trying to mix oil and water.
