Houston sent Scott Padgett to the Grizzlies in exchange for the 27-year-old, who gives them extra depth at center while they wait on the return of China international Yao Ming. The 7ft 2in, 290lb Tsakalidis is averaging 2.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 23 games - seven starts - with the Grizzlies this season. Tsakalidis, who is in his seventh NBA season, has averaged 4.9 points and 4.0 rebounds in 302 career games with Phoenix and Memphis. He has played for Greece’s national team but has not represented his country since EuroBasket 2003. The 6ft 9in Padgett averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 24 games with the Rockets this season.
