To determine the number of teams in the European competitions, the standings from the last 5 seasons are counted. And because of this we are still in 8th place, but Russia has a good chance of taking over since they have several teams left in the current competitions, and after today only with some luck we might be able to have Panathinaikos in the next round of UEFA Cup. Russia needs 5 wins by their teams to take over 8th place from us, assuming that our teams don't win any more games. That's why it is important for PAOK to defeat rennais, PAO to defeat Werder, and Olympiakos to defeat Real in order to minimize Russia's chances.
