AEK GIA PANTA
hahaha turkey out of euro04 after such a great showing at wc02 thats unbelievably funny but sad for the turks. especially 2-0 up in instanbul to draw 2-2 oh something's not going right there. it's an interesting stat that past 5 3rd placed in wc02 seem to fail at next major football comp. oh well i'm happy turkey didn't qualify i didn't think they're such a top footballing nation as many claimed after 3rd spot in wc02. while they played well an relativly easier path( as opposed to others) seemed to also help them along as well. anyway first time us greeks can tease the turks and say you'll be watching us at a major tournament and i'll enjoy it while it lasts cause i wont take this for granted and expect greece to play every major comp from now on which many turks must have been feeling after wc02. kala na pathete. The2ndMouse
Besides football passing into the background after the attacks in Turkey (my sincere wishes for the familes of the decesed and injured both in body or mind), lets talk about the beautiful sport to take our mind of the bad side of this world... I think that Turkey was unlucky to fing a very good Latvia team in their path. But I would not rush in to say that their World Cup performance was a fluke. What their World Cup performance did, was cancel the Advantage Turkey had to see their oponents underestimete them! On top of that, Latvia assembled a good team and took advantage of the same niche of opportunity Turkey explored gratelly up to now! They were underestimated! The problem, the Turks should solve, and we GReeks also need to keep in mind after our good recent performances is: Why forget so fast!? Once you cross to the side of the winners, you should be even more aware of the perils of underestimating weaker teams than , say, Germany! Anyway... only in a friendly manner, and ony in the boundaries of sports teasing I will also say! "Eat their Latvian Dust! Ha Ha ! " ( ;) )
Kerr
What a terrible week for us! :( First our U-21 failed against Germans and then our seniors against Latvia, ofcourse i'm not even mentioning the terrible attacks! :( :( :( Like a nightmare! We surely underestimated Latvia too much! Plus many of our players like Emre, Hasan Sas, Yildiray were out of form or injured. We also missed Rustu as a goalkeeper. But after all we didn't play too bad, we found two goals and were fired up fpr more and i honestly tought we would score 3 more goals to Latvia but Latvia's first goal changed everything. :( This is one step back for Turkish football. Senol Gunes should resign immediately and we should make a brand new start, there are some very skillfull players at our U-21 squad and we should promote them to the senior squad. From now on we should start working for 2006 immdiately.
Go:bekli
Istanbul guzel Istanbulum! Given the latest result, ug~ursuz might temporarily be a better choice than gu:zel! Anyway fellows, in soccer there is luck (and lack thereof) and in the same way the third place should not be taken too seriously, the recent bad results should not be taken too seriously either. Irlandos
A wee reminder that Latvia defeated Sweden - away! - to get to the playoffs. And who can forget their victories against Greece? Maybe it's time we stop talking about "luck" and realise that Latvia is producing footballers in addition to hockey players. "Sveiki" Latvia, and welcome to the Euro 2004 finals!
