Blackeagle
Brazil international Alex has joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce, despite interest from the likes of Barcelona, Monaco and Valencia. The Cruzeiro star, whose full name is Alex de Souza, had hinted that UEFA Champions League finalists Monaco were in pole position to sign him. However the prospect of a lucrative deal with Fenerbahce changed Alex's mind and prompted a move to Superlig. The Istanbul club's vice president Hakan Bilal Kutlualp helped conclude the deal and was delighted to have captured his man. "We've been after Alex for some time," Kutlualp told FBTV. "Each time we came here we solved one problem at a time. "Alex is very excited at the transfer. He's heard a lot of good things about the club. "I'm surprised how well know Fenerbahce is in Brazil." Alex has spent time in Europe in the past when he moved to Italian side Parma - but did not have the expected impact in Serie A.
GS1905
After the long-expected signing of Alex from Cruzeiro, Fenerbahce have extended contracts with two of their Brazilian players, Marcio Ferreira Nobre (26, Striker) and Fabio Luciano (30, Sweeper). Both players agreed to extend their 1+1 loan deals with the Canaries and it is now clear that 5 of Fenerbahce's 6 foreigners for their next season is complete: Marcio Ferreira Nobre, Fabio Luciano, Alex, Marco Aurelio(27, Anchorman), van Hooijdonk (34, Forward). The loan contract of Croatian full-back Stepjan Tomas is still not extended and the player is believed to be in talks with Galatasaray and Shakhtar Donetsk.
