I hope we get to the group stage of the CL. We will definitively need to get some experienced player on the roster to have a chance. Should be an interesting season coming up. Ziaka
With CL entry sure, lets look at our possible opponents in the 3rd Qualifying round of CL. As noted earlier, PAOK will be seeded in the strong group of teams in the 3rd Qualifying round. Here are the seedings as they stand now: SEEDED TEAMS Spain - 3rd CL team to be decided Manchester United - England Deportivo La Coru
Mitsos
It seems in the past that P.A.O.K. has had success, in Europe, when the opponent is a known team. For some reason they underestimate lesser-known opponents. I'd like to see them against Fener or Macabi. Regardless, it would be nice to see them in the Group Stage. The only negative for the players is visiting Agio Oros once a week.

Ziaka
paokg4 you're right. As a result of Porto winning the CL, Fenerbahce gets a direct placing in the group stage. Also Benfica ends in the undseeded teams. Still needed to be determined is which team in Ukraine will win the title. If Dinamo Kiev (41.301 coefficient) wins, they will go to the seeded teams section, and Wisla Krakow will be unseeded. If Shaktor Donetsk (17.301 coeffiecient) wins the Ukrainian title, they will be unseeded, and Wisla Krakow willbe seeded. Here is how things look right now: SEEDED TEAMS Real Madrid - Spain - 146.351 (coefficient) Manchester United - England - 110.510 Deportivo La Coruna - Spain - 104.351 FC Liverpool - England - 90.510 Juventus Torino - Italy - 84.531 Internazionale Milan - Italy - 82.531 PSV Eindhoven - Holland - 65.246 Bayer Leverkusen - Germany - 62.331 Sparta Prague - Czech rep. - 54.915 AS Monaco - France - 51.947 Anderlecht Brussels - Belgium - 49.529 Club Brugge - Belgium - 43.529 Glasgow Rangers - Scotland - 42.601 Rosenborg BK - Norway - 42.227 PAOK Thessaloniki - Greece - 41.467 UNKNOWN SEEDING (one of the following teams will join the above seeded teams) Wisla Krakow - Poland - 31.177 Ukraine - CL team to be determined - between 17.301-41.301 UNSEEDED TEAMS (these are the possible opponents for PAOK) Benfica Lisbon - Portugal - 29.970 FC Basel - Switzerland - 25.384 Red Star Belgrade - Serbia-Montenegro - 21.654 Grazer AK - Austria - 19.971 Maccabi Haifa - Israel - 19.012 Maccabi Tel Aviv - Israel - 14.012 Hajduk Split - Croatia - 11.734 Trabzonspor - Turkey - 11.656 Banik Ostrava - Czech Rep. - 10.915 CSKA Moscow - Russia - 8.572 Djurgardens IF - Sweden - 8.516 Romania - CL team to be determined - 12.880-17.880 Denmark - CL team to be determined - 15.758-21.758 Ukraine - CL2 team to be determined - 14.301-17.301 winner QR2 - 7.384-16.045 winner QR2 - 7.384-16.045 winner QR2 - 7.384-16.045 winner QR2 - 7.384-16.045 ---------------------------------------------- (Information from Bert Kassies site)

Ziaka
After last weekend the situation is as follows: SEEDED TEAMS Real Madrid - Spain - 146.351 (coefficient) Manchester United - England - 119.510 Deportivo La Coruna - Spain - 104.351 FC Liverpool - England - 90.510 Juventus Torino - Italy - 84.531 Internazionale Milan - Italy - 82.531 PSV Eindhoven - Holland - 65.246 Bayer Leverkusen - Germany - 62.331 Sparta Prague - Czech Rep. - 54.915 (**) AS Monaco - France - 51.947 Club Brugge - Belgium - 43.529 (**) Glasgow Rangers - Scotland - 42.601 Rosenborg BK - Norway - 42.227 PAOK Thessaloniki - Greece - 41.467 Dinamo Kiev - Ukraine - 41.301 (**) UNSEEDED TEAMS (these are the possible opponents for PAOK) Wisla Krakow - Poland - 31.177 (**) Benfica Lisbon - Portugal - 29.970 FC Basel - Switzerland - 25.384 Red Star Belgrade - Serbia-Montenegro - 21.654 (**) Grazer AK - Austria - 19.971 Maccabi Haifa - Israel - 19.012 FC Copenhagen - Denmark -15.758 (**) Ukraine - CL2 team to be determined - 14.301-17.301 (**) Maccabi Tel Aviv - Israel - 14.012 (**) Ferencvaros Budapest - Hungary - 13.045 (**) Dinamo Bukurest - Romania - 12.880 (**) Hajduk Split - Croatia - 11.734 (**) Trabzonspor - Turkey - 11.656 (**) Banik Ostrava - Czech Rep. - 10.915 CSKA Moscow - Russia - 8.572 (**) Djurgardens IF - Sweden - 8.516 (**) (**) means that the team plays in Round 2 of CL and has to qualify to Round 3 first. In case that the team does not qualify from Round 2, the team that beats them assumes the coefficient of that team. ---------------------------------------------- (Information from Bert Kassies site)
MikeS
Looking at the unseeded teams, I'd be very worried for PAOK if ended up matched against Benfica, Trabzonspor, or CSKA Moascow.
Ziaka
No doubt about it there are some tough teams. If I had my choice I would prefer Djurgaardens, Grazer AK, or any of the two Israeli teams. There is always a chance that PAOK will end up playing the team that I grew up with and used to go to almost all their home game. I am talking about Banik Ostrava of course. If PAOK gets drawn with Banik, and ends up playing their home fixture on August 10 or 11 (time frame when I will be in Greece), I will make sure not to miss that game. ATG
Ziaka, any idea when these qualifiers will be played as I will be in Greece at the same and I have promised the boys from Melbourne Club Paok some pics & video footage???
Ziaka
The first game is on August 10, and the return leg is on August 25. PAOK officials are trying to make an arrangement with UEFA, so they can play their home leg on August 25 (unfortunately 3 days after I leave Greece), because they believe that they have a better chance for Athens 2004 Organizing Committee to grant them the ok to use Toumba Stadium for the CL game, since the Olympic soccer tournament by that time will be over in Thessaloniki. If Athens 2004 does not give their OK, the most likely option for PAOK is to play their home game in Xanthi. The drawing for the 3rd leg of CL qualifyiong is will take place on July 30, 2004. Original Melbourne 21
For a minute there, it looked as if I thought you guys were going to miss out on being seeded. But as it turns out luck is a fortune. Being seeded, the ball is currently in your hands. To be honest, I dont know what to expect from you guys and I think its a fair statement to say that some of you PAOKtzides dont know what to expect either. You can be very very hot or very very cold. Ziaka
PAE PAOK got the OK from the Athens 2004 Organizing Committe to use Toumba Stadium for its CL games on August 10/11 or 25. Ziaka
UEFA has informed PAE PAOK that they accept PAOK's request to have the two CL games played on August 10 & 25. However they did not accept PAOK' request to play the home game on the 25th. The draw will decide, when the home game will be played. This means that there is still a chance I will be able to see PAOK's qualifying game live in person. That's assuming they play their home game on the 10th. Here is the announcement concerning this from PAE PAOK's official web site:
Ziaka
It should also be noted that in the unthinkable event that PAOK does not make the group stage of the Champions League, they will take part in the Round 1 of the UEFA Cup. Winners of the Round 1 of the UEFA Cup will enter the Group stage of the UEFA Cup. The group stage of UEFA Cup will consist of 8 group with each group having 5 teams. The bad part is that the games in the groups will not the usual home/away setup. Each team n the group will play each team once (2 games at home and 2 games away). The top 3 teams from each group plus 8 teams from CL will continue on in a knockout stage of the UEFA Cup.

drakos13
worst case would be Trabzonspor or maybe Shaktar Donetsk or Red Star Belgrade.... actually Rosenborg is always a tough team...but PAOK in good form can beat anyof them. also whats the story with the Qualifying venue? are they playing in the toumpa or abroad?
