HellasHab
The Super League has launched the bidding process for the distribution rights for the period 2009-2012 and it appears as though its going to be a heated affair as several companies have submitted bids. For the domestic rights (in Greece) the following have submitted bids to acquire the rights: 1. ALPHA TV 2. MEGA CHANNEL 3. FORTHNET (NOVA) 4. SKAI 5. ON TELECOMS According to the article from Satleo, Alpha TV - Forthnet have submitted the highest bid - ?140 million and are currently favoured to get the rights, while the joint bid from MEGA - On Telecoms came in at ?126 million. Skai is likely to be out of the running and apparently ERT & ANT1 submitted a joint bid but it was later withdrawn. Looks like ANT1 is going after the international rights, discussed below. The Super League is also accepting bids for international rights and the following have submitted bids for these: 1.
asteri
Eleu8erotupia claims that Olympiakos is out of this bid. They are looking for a contract with a channel themselves. Possibly, this channel is ERT. http://www.enet.gr/online/online_text/c=11...115,id=86195664 If you can't find the above page, go to Eleu8erotupia main page, choose Fri 17 Oct 2008, then go to "Super nauagio" in the athletics section. asteri
Superleague teams (except Olympiakos) reached an agreement about the TV rights. See http://news.ert.gr/sports/podosfairo/super...-dikaiomata.htm for more details, in particular the formula for the distribution of income to the teams. Nova and Alpha will be showing the games, with Nova having most of the shows. The article does not say what happens with the rights outside Greece. Grk101
Interesting that Alpha did not submit a bid for the international rights. It would be a smart move for them IMO.

Grk101
Obviously the best option for us in North America would be Antenna/Setanta. I have never heard of the other companies either. Maybe they are working like a consortium and plan to distribute them to other channels? It would be interesting to find out more information about them. Grk101
A quick google search for Cleverbank, shows that this appears to be the company: http://www.cleverbank.com They look like they are a marketing company or something like that. Under their "Case Studies", it lists a bunch of Greek projects, including "Olympiakos Sports Club". ______________________________________________________________________ A google search for IMG Sport, shows this company: http://www.imgworld.com/sports/ They appear to be a marketing company too, and have a list of clients too, including the Olympics. _______________________________________________________________________ I couldnt find Sports COM, but if I understand correctly, these 2 companies above plan to buy the rights, and distribute the games to channels they choose. Or am I wrong?
