Spain is like an old car: break them up and maybe you have something worthwhile.

I've seen Sweden in Windsor Park...In the immortal words of Shania: They don't impress me much.

Look for the Orthodox duo to qualify with Russia's surprising performance to continue well past this stage...

i look for sweden to disappoint (backline shaky, injury problems) the anti-greece football world and not advance from this group. the points are here for the taking - i just feel that greece's continuity (especially in the midfield) will overcome russia for 2nd place. spain looks to play villa out wide a bit, which falls into greece's hands (playing 2 quick strikers in the box upsets greece's defense)...so, greece may manage to squeeze out a draw against spain and perhaps pique spain for 1st place.

of course, i'm assuming that various individual players on the greece side up their game to reasonable expectations.

1) spain

2) greece

3) russia

4) sweden

I pray you're right, but i think you're being a bit to optimistic file mou :(

And here's somebody that is definitely not a fan of Greece!

Toronto Sun: Just like Britney, Greece's style is behind the times ( by GARETH WHEELER)

Catching lightning in a bottle- is there any other way to describe Greece's run to European glory in 2004? Actually there is. It's called BORING! ....

...If you're looking for a Cinderella team, look to the other underdogs in Group D. Both the short-handed Russians and the experienced Swedes are prime breakout candidates.

What will you do ?

Come to Greece and... ?

I 've heard those threats before!

We all have ...

quite disappointing tbh ...

I had put some serious money on the outcome but then one of you two chickened out ...

...

And yeah to quote a small piece from that article:

"Although the game has changed, Greece hasn't. In 2004, the Greeks were afforded the chance to sit back and take the very little the other sides had to offer. In Austria-Switzerland, they will not have that luxury.

Greece is a well-organized defensive machine that lacks offensive creativity. With the current squad, it's unlikely they can play any other way."

Which tournament was that guy watching back then? :D

AGGGRRRR, no email address attached to the article

Another untalented sports writer with a BORING article that fails to appreciate the rise of the underdog through sound tactics and hard work that also outsmarted and outplayed the opposition. No there is no lesson here for Canadian sports writers.

The Spartans and Athenians did not display much OFFENSIVE CREATIVITY (the way the sports writers mean it). The Persians had all the flare, but the Greeks lined up and plowed right through them. :bangin:

We saw yesterday Grecee doesnt have a ''B''plan and they lost the game discipline after the goal. But i beleive Grecee will play to Spain better (because Spain plays attack) and still they have chance to be second. Actually Samaras or Gekas and some more players are star players but in Greek team they dont seen like a star because of the game plan...Yesterday a star ''Ibrahimovic'' has turned the match , Grecee needs star players or a system will alow to show stars...

After our really disapointed performance and aftermath of our defeat from Sweden,i believe that we will be more prepared and determined in the last 2 games and if we want to stand a chance of advancing,we got to beat Rusia.

Spain defeated Sweden 2-1 thanks to a dreadful mistake by Swedish defender Hansson in the 92 minute.

The result is not what Greece (or Russia to a lesser extent) would have hoped for as the Greek NT could now very well be eliminated even with 6 points...

Sweden played so horrible, they never have the urgency like Turkey to get back in the game after we copped the 1st goal. So pathetic Lars must get fired!

Thanks for the memories Henrik, it's time you call it a carrer FOR GOOD! Don't embarass yourself like this again.
