Irlandos
The group of death... Italy will make it one way or the other, France will drop dead a la 2002 and Romania have Holland's number so: Italy and Romania from this group.
Genome
I'm guessing the two WC finalists: Italy and France.

Irlandos
I am going to insist that Romania will surprise many in this group. Other than that, look for Italy to go through and France to drop dead.

Irlandos
Romania's hopes of advancing were somewhat dented by a 0-0 draw against a boring French team.
GS1905
Holland have been a disgrace (!) to this boring and horrendous tournament so far.. What great stuff !!! :nw: :nw: :nw: PS: I am somehow happy Italy lost this big a margin.. That was well-deserved from the WC 2006..
Lazarus
Wow! What a game, what an offensive onslaught from the Dutch! They cremated Italy! It doesn't get any better for those that dislike Italy (like myself)!

Genome
Quite the game although the first goal was offside by two meters or so ... very good game by the Dutch none the less. Giovanni Van Bronckhorst from the Netherlands was man of the match for me, with one goal, one cross on the counter that led to another goal and clearing the ball from his own goal line. Irlandos
It's been a while since the Italian NT resembled a bunch of zombies! I think they may be exiting this tournament early, as they did 4 years ago. Wouldn't it be something if the teams eliminated from this group are Italy and France? plato-ny
The Italians were bragging about no team scoring a "normal" goal against them in WC 2006 and winning every match except for one tie. Well, now they got tails kicked 3-0 and already in a hole.
NYPAO13
I managed to see this one in full, & the Dutch made the Italians look silly out there I too thought the 1st goal was offside, the Dutch goalie Van der Sar made to really nice saves that could of changed the outlook on the match if they gone in.. Very impressive Dutch side
Lazarus
From the BBC: Dutch goal correct says ref chief ...Uefa general secretary David Taylor said Swedish referee Peter Frojdfeldt and his assistant Stefan Wittberg were absolutely correct in their interpretation.... He told a news conference: "There is a lack of understanding as to why this particular goal was awarded. In fact some television commentators have insisted the goal was clearly offside, but that is not the case.... "...The player was not offside because in addition to the goalkeeper there was another Italian player in front of the goalscorer. Even though he had fallen off the pitch his position was still relevant for the purposes of the offside law." Read more
Genome
True. I hadn't noticed it yesterday while watching the game live, but afterwards on the Dutch channel it became clear the goal was indeed not offside.
Irlandos
2nd matchday results: Italy - Romania 1-1 The Italians can complain of a valid goal that was disallowed though the Romanians missed a penalty. Holland - France 4-1 The French goal came after an offensive foul was overlooked and it also appeared to me Henry was offside. But France still looked better than the Italians did. The last matchday pits a totally indifferent Dutch squad v. Romania who need the victory to advance and eliminate the last WC's two finalists.
