  1. Should one laugh or weep? Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday hit out at President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who told young Turks, "Do not kick the enemy you have brought down to the ground. You are not a Jew in Israel." Netanyahu said Erdogan was "the occupier of northern Cyprus, whose army massacres women and children in Kurdish villages, inside and outside Turkey" in a tweet late on Saturday.
  2. New Democracy is holding its Congress and Manfred Weber (candidate for the Presidency of the European Commission) was present there. He voiced the usual bull but there was a moment during which voiced a small (and possibly important) truth. Namely, "If we do not continue united, we are lost. We now account for 7% of the world's population. In a few years, we will be just 3%. The policies of Trump, Putin and Chinese Communists leave no room for individual EU Member States to confront them. "
  3. Beware! The dogs do not like the cynics.
  4. A scandal came to light in Greece. Namely: Mr Pappas is a Syriza insider Mr Petsitis was/is a friend of Mr Pappas In 2013 Mr Petsitis was a waiter in a pizzeria and his annual income was 5,000 euros In 2017 he was an employee of ELFE - Lavrentiadis and his annual income was 205,000 €.
  5. The only way the diaspora will return to Greece ….... When I wrote patriots, ipso facto I excluded the perfidious Albion Go into the PAOK and Aris forums.... I did visit the “Ετσι γαργαλάει η Βουλγαρία” forum in Fantis. My Greek did not improve. I also visited the Greek “Ετσι γαργαλάει η Βουλγαρία” forums. The participants were at war with the elementary logic. I chose to escape.
  6. Speaking of births and deaths, the Europeans (2018 Ageing Report) claim that: 1) The current population of Greece is 10.8 million. By 2060 the population of Greece will be ~8.3 million. 2) As of now 14.4% of the population is 14 years old or younger. By 2060 ~11.8% of the population will be 14 years old or younger. 3) Presently, 6.6% of the population is 80 years old or older. By 2060 ~17.2% , of the population will the 80 years old or older,. 4) As of now 106,200 Greeks are 90 years old or older. By 2060 ~392,200 Greeks will be 90 years old or older. If this report is more or less correct, I would expect that all the Greek-patriots within the Greek diaspora will a) Return to Greece and maniacally procreate, b) Become native speakers of the Greek language and c) Through their postings at Phantis, will help us to learn the language of our ancestors.
  7. I fear that the subject of this thread is not well defined. Namely There is the process that decides who is a true refugee and There is the process of locating/relocating the refugees. As of now, the Greek politicians are accused of misusing/stealing funds for 1) above. On 31 May 2018, the European Commission reported that 34 689 asylum seekers have been relocated from Italy and Greece to other States participating in the relocation process. Among the 34 689 asylum seekers relocated: 12 690 have been relocated from Italy 21 999 have been relocated from Greece According to the Commission's document, commitments legally foreseen in the Council Decisions amount to 98.255 asylum seekers to be relocated (34.953 from Italy and 63.302 from Greece) over 2 year. Elsewhere (January 2018) we read How Greece got to grips with a relentless refugee crisis ATHENS — In August, the European Commission announced a 209 million euro ($245 million) emergency support package to provide cash assistance and rental housing for refugees in Greece. Pegged as a “game changer” by the Commission’s head of humanitarian aid, Christos Stylianides, the Emergency Support to Integration and Accommodation package came in part as a response to strong criticism over living conditions in Greek refugee camps. “The aim of these new projects is to get refugees out of the camps and into everyday accommodation, and help them have more secure and normal lives,” Stylianides said at the time. I need to state that I knew a man who divorced his wife in order to marry one of his mistresses. Some years later his ex-wife remarried and he was really upset. How, he asked, did the “Jezebel” dare to be in bed with another man? In time I understood that God was schooling me in order to understand that migrants (and their descendants) can expect that the void they created would not ever be filled.
  8. Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/nov/27/immigrants-greece-winter-crisis-public-sector-cuts-un-envoy has a few pictures and comments about the 1.6 euro billion Greek accommodations …........ Senior European sources are appalled by the camps, especially Samos, where 4,000 people are living in wretched conditions at the Vathy reception centre, six times above capacity. . ….....One consequence is that few asylum seekers and migrants are being returned to Turkey, a possibility created by a controversial EU deal with Ankara in 2016. Note (mine): The diplomats quoted in the article are not blaming anyone. As a rule, the diplomats try to solve the problems without blaming anyone.
  9. There is the processing the refugees and the resettling of the refugees. The second is not cheap. In the US it costs 64K. The processing is on comparison cheap. Moria,Lesvos A different picture will be seen if one googles “Kilis Turkey refugee camp”, sees the photos, and reads the comments of the visiting EU inspectors.
  10. The Greek press (https://www.in.gr) claimed (in Greek) that Greece has signed agreements with the EU. As a result, Greece received EU-money. Greece is accused of being governed by a bunch of thieves who pocketed much of the money and ignored the terms of the signed agreements. Moreover "the SYRIZAN government has received from the European Union, from 2015, about EUR 1.6 billion for the management 65,000 refugees in the country. Turkey received 3 billion euros for 3 million (three million) refugees on its territory. Well, up to now, we were told "'........Greeks bearing gifts!". Now we have passed to a higher level: "Give the Greeks billions and they will make them disappear into pockets unknown to all but the Greeks"..
  11. Greece has signed agreements with the EU. As a result Greece received EU-money. Greece is accused to be governed by a bunch of thieves who pocketed much of the money and ignored the terms of the signed agreements. As for the rest, Greece has a government elected by the Greek citizens. When it signs an agreement, its signature must have some value.
  12. What "bullsh*t superiority"? The national hymn of Greece is part of a poem of Solomos. The final verses of the poem justify the slaughtering of the weak and poor in Tripolis. Those with money could pay Bubulina or Kolokotronis and be let go. As a rule the poor/weak/guilty need to have a reason in order to be proud. Greece is country that goes from bad to worse. The Greeks need to be proud. The Germans are prouder than the Dutch; why? Possibly because they need to forget the camps where the Untermenschen were slaughtered. The failed (now or in their past) countries in the central/eastern European tend to have high scores. Greece is a failed country and we should view the Greeks in Greece in the way we view/treat a parent whose mind does not function well.
  13. NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo lashed out on Thursday at a Greek television presenter who described his brother Thanasis as a "monkey" following a EuroLeague game last weekend. Presenter Takis Tsoukalas, a well-known supporter of Olympiakos, targeted Thanasis Antetokounmpo with the "racist" remark shortly after he had helped his team, Panathinaikos, beat arch-rivals Olympiakos 93-80 in a EuroLeague clash last Friday. ....... Giannis added: "If this can happen to Thanasis, who represents the Greek national team and Panathinaikos with pride and with a smile, I cannot imagine what other people of colour face in Greece. I am sad and disappointed but we will not let the negative comments change this family and our love for the country we grew up in."
  14. The Economist has an article for Greece (The title and starting text can be read below) Licensed anarchy? How a group of Athens troublemakers goes unpunished The down-at-heel neighbourhood of Exarchia in central Athens, known for its lively bars and tavernas, has long been home to a small but disruptive community of self-described anarchists. Violent street battles take place at weekends: extremists throw Molotov cocktails at police, who respond with tear gas. Long-suffering residents say their complaints are routinely ignored by are routinely ignored by the authorities. One anarchist group, Rouvikonas (Rubicon), uses more sophisticated tactics to make its presence felt. Based in a cinema-cum-bar close to Exarchia’s central square, populated with drug pushers and sellers of bootleg cigarettes, Rouvikonas stages nuisance attacks against embassies, government buildings and the offices of multinational companies. Its members are not usually arrested. Prosecutors dismiss their actions as “too insignificant” to justify full-fledged investigation. Rouvikonas’s victims would disagree.... 15. The PEW ranked the Europeans by their acceptance of Muslims and Jews, same sex marriage, and legal abortion. Well If ranked by the ratio (total number of abortions)/women, the Greek women get gold in Europe and bronze in the world! Apparently, the good Muslims must kill the kafirs; the Christians and the Jews are not kafirs. In Algeria (and not only Algeria) the family code prohibits Muslim women from marrying non-Muslim men In the Muslim world the non-Muslim citizens (dhimmis) were second-class citizens.. Today most Muslim countries have courts in which a woman's testimony is worth half of that of a man; moreover in Saudi Arabia a woman's testimony is worth half of that of a man. In all courts. My overall understanding is that according to Pew 1) Normal people believe that the women are equal to men and 2) Good people should consider the women equal to themselves I am perplexed. My cousin plans to marry Hans, an admirer of Adolf; is Pew of the opinion that I must accept Hans, his swastikas, and his wet dreams about the final solution?
  16. Τώρα που μάθαμε πώς " γαργαλάει η Βουλγαρία " τι τους θέλουμε τους Βούλγαρους;
  17. The photo above was copied from iefimerida.gr. under the title Οι σαλταδόροι της Κατοχής. The children in the picture are too young to be “saltadoroi”. The picture below (same article) may be showing saltadoroys
  18. Those of you who, if any, (1) can read and understand a Greek text and (2) are interested in the history of modern Greece, should read the article in http://www.efsyn.gr/arthro/i-mayri-vivlos-toy-gioynan-asker. efsyn stands for efimerida=newspaper and syn for syntakton= of paper editors.
  19. Should we consider that all these ancient shipwrecks are an omen and a statement about the eternal Greece? Here is the opening paragraph of an article in the IEFIMERIDA.GR "High taxation, corruption, lack of transparency - more and more companies are leaving Greece" - this is the article title of the economic newspaper Handelsblatt.
  20. There is an interesting article in NEA https://www.tanea.gr/2018/10/23/uncategorized/makedoniko-diglossoi-ellines-zitoun-anagnorisi-skopianis-meionotitas/ NEA provides a translation to English (if you push the correct button). It is not clear if the translator is a machine or a group of sober Cockneys.
  21. On 19/10/2018 the Washington Post had an article titled How Trump captured working class voters and how the Democrats lost them. The juicy points (in my opinion) of the article are the following: In Luzerne County. Trump got 77%of the county’s votes …. from the middle of the Great Depression through 1980, the top 10 percent of Americans received 30% of the nation’s income growth, and the other 90 percent took in 70 percent of it. But from 1997 to the present, the top 10 percent took in all of the U.S. income growth, and the bottom 90 percent got none. This shift occurred partly under the watch of presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Luckily for the country, not all election stories are grim: Jess Harker was a nurse born into a pro-union Democratic household. But when she married Ray Harker, Bradlee writes, “he served as both her religious and political mentor,” and Jess became an evangelical Christian Republican. When Trump emerged as the GOP nominee, she “went all-in for Trump.” But to her husband, Trump “is a satanic fraud.” In 2016 Jess voted for Trump, and Ray cast a defiant vote for Clinton. Should either of the Harkers have harkened to the other? If they did, they would have stayed home and produced more Harkers. The country needs more harkeners and fewer lecturing bozos who turned up to be Trump's trump.
  22. Those who can read and understand Greek may be interested in a article in Kathimerini,(http://www.kathimerini.gr/987347/gallery/epikairothta/ellada/mia-lhsmonhmenh-agria-katoxh); essentially describes how the ethnic Greeks in Macedonia were treated by the Bulgarians during WWI.
  23. There is an article in iefimerida about Macedonia. You can read beneath the machine translation of the article in question. Reactions arise from the views of a member of the committee on the change of school books in Greece and Skopje, which argues that the Greekity of Macedonia is a fantasy. Alexandra Ioannidou is one of the seven members of the committee appointed by the Greek government to examine irresponsibility in Skopje's school books. With recent statements she had questioned the Greekity of Macedonia. The Associate Professor of the National Center for the Study of Democracy said on 19/9/2018: "We take up a thousand myrrh in the name of the terrible homeland and one, let's say, fantasy telling us that Macedonia was always Greek and will remain Greek." The Truth Team posted the video to twitter. Πηγή: «Φαντασίωση ότι η Μακεδονία ήταν πάντα ελληνική», λέει μέλος επιτροπής για τα νέα βιβλία ιστορίας | iefimerida.gr Notes: 1) I doubt that the word Greekity exist; nevertheless it is clear what text says 2) myrrh is a totally shitty translation; the Greek μύριοι=10,000. Hence κατομμύριο=100*10,000=1M. The Greek text is "χίλια μύρια". The literal translation of the Greek text is 1000 times 10,000=10M. The correct translation is "too many". I don't know if the text above makes sense. I do not have the time to produce a good translation. Those of you who can read Greek can follow the pointer above.
