  1. According to MetroSport Pereyra will NOT play against us in Toumba but will be active for Qabala's home game.  I can live with the that.

Whoever believes Berbatov wouldn't be a dominant force in Greece should really stick to watching Tennis or Hockey.  Berbatov coming to Greece has become a joke, like Ronaldinho every year now for the last 3 years....

I don't want to comment on the new signings too much yet, I think Zairo and Rodrigues will be good, I think Pelkas will be our break out star for the season and Kace will be solid and show improvement.

...and as a little history lesson, that feeling of hope and promise some of you are feeling inside is exactly what we were all so excited about what we signed Huub Stevens, who had a plan and a system.  He brought former Ajax and Valencia and Netherlands NT player star Hedwiges Maduro and AZ star Marten Marteens...let's not forget the millions of euros his project is STILL costing us.   Remember Necid, Houssen and every other patsavoura he loaded us with?

My point is that every year we have something different to be excited about.  Whether it's Anastasiadis who knows Greek football, and the way the league works and he's going to bring the passion bla, bla,bla...or Boloni who is a specialist in young talent and our Academies are the best in Greece.....and then we get rid of him in the most disrespectful way.....then we bring in Skatofatsa, which not many of us were excited about.

So, like I said...O PAOKtzis thelei paramethi. All you need to do to get a PAOKtzi excited is give him something to believe in.

  2. Rumor has it, that Berbatov has been spotted at Birmingham Airport. Looks like he's going to Aston Villa.

As good as he'll be in Greece, I never believed we were truly interested in him, would go totally against our transfer policy thus far.

    It's OK, we'll sign him in 3 years when he's 37.

  3. I'm not gonna lie, I like signing all the young guys, but I feel we overloaded the middle line, and left the backfield week.  It's been 3 years now that our defense is in shambles and it's yet to be addressed.  Ricardo Costa WAAAY underperformed last year and is no where near his former self.

I don't want to hear Berbatov's name anymore.  He has zero interest in playing for PAOK.  He'd rather play 2nd division in England than here.

  4. Just so we're on the same pages, here is my summary of this off-season.  Point out where I may be wrong:

So Ivan said he has given Arnesen $25-$30M Euros for transfers, and after paying everyone to leave, we brought in a bunch of cheap nobodies and a goalie who is worse than all 3 goalies we had last year, not including Jakobo who was on loan, with the hope of building in the future, we got outbid and slapped in the face in regards to a striker on more than 3 occasions, we have no solutions to the gaping holes in defense.  We are once again in a rebuilding year with a coach who only has coached about 40 matches professioinally, who has the players working hard on tactics/physical conditioning (like every other coach in the past....if I read "

  5. Pereyra to Qabala is like a Bizarro World of our usual strategy, which is poach an opponents player AFTER we have played a team in the UEL, not BEFORE. I still think Pereyra is good, but better Qabala than AEK or PAO.

Cyprus perfect for Koulouris ... Better than B' Ethniki and far away from the Greek SL politics. He is too young and PAOK fans are far too fickle to risk his psyche with their knee-jerk-reactionary-stalking-outside-the-parking-lot-craziness.

@paokara - 100% agree with your take on Marica. He will be a perfectly good rental player for one season and fills a need.

Could there be a clause that he can't play against us? Or does that s%$#! no fly on an international level?

  6. From the little I saw in the highlights, Pelkas is on point and the real deal so far.  Mak continues to miss goal opportunities that should be in.  The kid Sabo has his head up his ass, from the play where he jumps at the ball when he's clearly offside by a mile, to the own-goal he was a liability.  I didn't notice much else, except we did have a few opportunities, and again, I feel like Klaus would have made a difference.  We finally have a midfield and group that can create the kind of opportunities he excels at.
