Although I hated the concept of the Conference League at first, I think it might actually be a good thing for a lot of the smaller teams in the long run. Playing with more level competition and earning some extra money and points for their country. It doesn't have the prestige of Champions League, but it may be a good stepping stone for a lot of teams.

Here's an article that lists what our opponents players' REAL jobs are.....We're playing a team made up of Cops, Carpenters, Teacher and a bunch of other blue collar jobs. I'd bet not a single one of these guys is a millionaire. Let's see what our "pro's" will do against them

The problems with the team begin and end with the front office. The philosophy of signing players just to sign them has to end. I'd rather invest more in our youngsters and hold on to them, rather than signing these nobody's. Are we better off than if we would have just help on to players like Giannoulis, Tzolis, Limnios, Pelkas, Stafylidis, Tsiggaras, etc. If we had a starting 11 of just the Greek talent that has run through our team in the last 3-5 years we would have a much better squad. You sprinkle in 3-4 foreign players to balance the roster and that's it. Either dump the young talent and spend money on good foreign players, or dont....what we're doing is backwards. We dump young talent and replace them with old less talented players.

@Bananas exactly. It's what I've been saying for years. People need to realize that most players, especially younger talented ones, don't want to come to Greece. Any player worth signing most definitely has other offers from teams in better leagues. And like you mentioned, there's A LOT of better leagues than ours. We can't even count on our Academies for long term either. Any decent player gets bought up. From the look of things, Greece's soccer is going to spiral into some dark times. No Champions League spot is going to change Olympiakos' ability to make quality signings in the near future. It also lessens the exposure for selling players. I think in the near future we'll be seeing teams with majority Greek players, which isn't a bad thing, but the quality is going to continue to decline.

What an embarassment. It's going to be a long season if something doesn't change soon. The fact that Varella and Crespo are still on the team is horrible. The fact the Vierinha is a starter is horrible. It's all horrible. We've made no quality signings and I don't see any quality players coming.

Anyone watch "Sunderland til I die" on Netflix? Pretty good look at the some of the behind the scenes action of a soccer club. I could definitely imagine that it's very similar to the things teams like PAOK go through in their day to day operations. Especially when new owners come in and try to revamp the teams fan engagement. Some interesting stats from the show was that Sunderland went from $100M a year for TV right in Premiere League, to $40M when relegated to Championship. Also interesting was how when they get relegated to LEagueOne they still were making transfers for $900K.

And the tradition of not keeping a coach continues. I wonder who Lucescu is going to screw us over for next year.

Being average isn't the issue, it's the amount of money we are spending to be average that's the problem. AEK fans have accepted the fact that they will be fighting for 3-5th every year under Melissanidis, but at least they're not spending anywhere near what we are to be mediocre.

Athens4, let's not mention Olympiacos right now. They are a FAR superior team than us. We've dropped so many points to so many crappy teams, while they go in and score 3-4 every match with ease. Have they had a couple questionable results? Sure. Was it because they were outperformed? No. In a 100% clean league, what would the standings be in your opinion? Not much different than it is now, I guarantee it. Todays result was disappointing. I don't blame Garcia...just like I didn't really blame Ferreira. You give a guy 2 pieces of bread and a kourada, what do you expect? Beef Wellington or a Kourada sandwich?

Rahman is a Chelsea player as much as Wague was a Barcelona player. A prospect that was a dud and loaned out to a new team every year since signing.

Can we please stop referring to Wague as a Barcelona player?? He played in their B team, and he lasted 4 matches with the A team.....I'm sure it was all garbage time. He's young, so maybe he will play up to some potential, but let's not pretend like we stole some up and coming whiz kid. Pachalakis, Biseswar, El Kaddouri, Varella, crespo, Jaba, Colac, Wague are all below average players at this point and should be shipped out....HOW they get shipped is a different question altogether

We had 75% possession, over 20 corner kicks, and Omonoia parked a bus in defense. The only thing that was missing was the goals. What do you guys think the score would have been with Prijovic in there instead of Swiderski? Crespo and Varella have given their best years to us, and now they're old. Colac is an absolute hack at this point....maybe he breaks out this season, maybe he doesn't. Wague is a garbage player that has shown us maybe 15 minutes of decent play....but who else could have played there? Put Crespo back there and watch the comedy that is his ball handling and passing? Giannouli's was coming off injury and was in yellow card danger. This loss has zero to do with Garcia. I'm not gonna be a Pablo fan boy. I love the guy, but when it's his fault, I'll be the first to say it....but this has ZERO to do with Garcia. Put Colac in with Swiderski for what? So that when he's out there looking like a patata everyone can yell PABLO!!! CAN'T YOU SEE THE GUY SUCKS!!! Get real. And replace who with him? Tzolis or Zivcovic? Please. A defender? They were already struggling as it is. We have some players who are of really good quality, and then there's those that are either garbage or just plain old now. El Kaddouri made a horrible mistake in the end with that penalty but he's shown that he can play on a higher level. Did Pablo tell him to commit that foul? Let's cut the BS of blaming Garcia when there's clearly plenty of other issues way higher on the food chain. It's disappointing...in the end we just couldn't get the goal. If I was Garcia, I'd be having them practice corners and set pieces til the cows came home after that abysmal showing.
