  1. It seems whatever I was watching, was a solid 45 minutes behind you. Still, I wouldn't read too much into the game - I don't think the result was ever in doubt.

Except for Costa's performance. He was awful.

  2. Wait, that's it? They just took a break for that awful song from what I'm seeing on the stream. I had to take the headphones off because I was hurting.

The crowd is still there, it looks like there's more to come.

  3. On Wednesday PAOK plays the Euro 2004 NT in a charity game. I hope Gergiadis is not that stupid to play the starters in this game. The way the injuries happen at PAOK these days I would not risk it at all. BTW Georgiadis will coach PAOK for one half and then play for the NT in the other half. Otto is supposed to the NT coach.

Looks like it's made up of at least some retired players on our side as well. Garcia and Schnauchner. Wonder if Ivic will play as well.

  4. Exactly. It's very hard to filter out the shrill rage on both sides, unfortunately. But diversifying the economy...putting people to work...it's all vitally important.

I was paying a visit to an uncle last weekend, at his pizzeria. He said there was some news out of my grandparents' favorite beachside town, Asprovalta (on the Strymonian Gulf). Apparently, huge swaths of land there have been bought by Russians in the past few months, and are being prepared for construction. Presumably it'll be hotels that cater to Russian tourists (the area already has a lot of Bulgarians). Massive news, right? Well, apparently, this is starting to cause some friction with the locals, who don't want to be overrun with foreigners. Admittedly speaking as someone who just visits once in a while...I'd put up with some blonde babes on my beach, if it means Mitso and Taki spend a few less hours at the kafeneio and a few more making cash to support their families.

Sometimes, making money means you can't allow your life to stay forever unchanging. I think that's one thing Greece as a whole needs to learn, and that this crisis *should* be teaching.

  5. The one that was in the plans from a year back, seemed excessive for us. Even if all of the teams practiced simultaneously. I'd be much more interested in a covered stadium. Get that incredible atmosphere tuned just right, acoustics-wise...would be a sight (and sound) to behold.

  6. @Bananas - from what I understand, this mine will be particularly environmentally unfriendly (it's a strip mine in everyone's favorite Bulgarian resort peninsula, after all), and there are rumbles of human rights violations. But as is the case with many things, the two sides are both pretty extreme in their view of the other.

  7. I still have trouble believing he'll invest beyond that. I can't see what the return would possibly be for him...why throw more money after bad? As I said on the old forum, if he does nothing more than pay off the debts and let the club steam along, I will still be grateful.

^^Are you guys kidding me....Real professionals train year round in today's world...There's no such thing as to many games.

Don't be ridiculous. Fatigue is a real thing, whether you want to admit it or not. It takes no more than watching for six months to see the effect playing has on players. Unfortunately, there's only one team in Greece that can afford to have such depth that this problem is mitigated.
