  1. Ahhhh Prijovic and Pelkas, what the hellllll
  2. The sigh was re: Pelkas Good stream by ERT
  3. Just give it time!
  4. Saying the hooliganism is okay in comparison to mass shootings is a pretty solid case of whataboutism. Yeah mass shootings suck. So does hooliganism. I can do that too, in fact: "I'd rather have a mass shooting than be in the middle of a crowd that gets slammed into by a stolen dump truck."
  5. A guy poured a beer on an opposing player at Gillette Stadium last week. Check out what happened to him: https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2018/10/15/foxborough-police-trying-identify-fan-who-splashed-kansas-city-chiefs-receiver-with-beer/uZPTHUPClmIB65EYxhhilM/story.html Keep in mind that this stadium seats 65k+, and is sold out nearly every game. If you so much as throw a spitball, security will take you down, and charges will be pressed. Meanwhile, in Greece, we have total anarchy. We should not be terrified our own fans are going to screw everything up.
  6. If the still plan to sink the pitch (and surrounding rows), the height restriction won't matter as much. What's the current height of the stadium? Little Savvidis was claiming over 40k a few months ago, so hopefully that means plans are complete and they're just waiting on the go-ahead. -edit- it would be an amazing end to Toumba's current incarnation if we end its last season with a championship
  7. Positive spin - he did it as a red blooded patriotic Greek Negative spin - he did it because Papa Putin told him to Follow-through - was his move into Greece done specifically for political purposes, economic investment, interest in his own roots, or some combination of the three? A few years ago, my theory was that he bought the team so that he could engender goodwill with the locals and make a play for a few of the businesses in the area (which he certainly has done). But honestly, if he wanted to play nice, then he would have probably done a bit better of a job than he has so far - he's certainly made some enemies. If I were in his place, with similar means, I would absolutely have made the moves I assumed he would do. The port of Thessaloniki has a lot of potential, and serves as a bridge to the Slavic world. But this calls into question the fundamental reason why he's doing all this. After all, for someone who is insanely, unbelievably rich, throwing this kind of money around at the behest of his party's leader will not even make a dent in his lifestyle. Depending on how loyal he is to Putin (or how scared of him he is), he might have been willing to essentially be sent as an agent of Russia. But to go to the earlier question - causing a riot that would stop this stupid vote could easily have been a way to kill two birds with one stone - he likely personally feels affronted by the name situation (as so many of us are), AND it would help Russia's interests in curtailing a strengthening of NATO's influence in the area.
  8. Akpom sprained his ankle, questionable for this game
  9. There is no reason we should lose this. We are a much, much, much better team. I want to see the team come out hungry and eager to crush them.
  10. Sounds like El Kaddouri is not yet at 100%. With Biseswar starting as AM, that means we have Limnios, Jaba, and Warda. Unless Vieirinha gets a surprise start up front, expect all of our wingers to get at least some playing time. If they run themselves too ragged, get ready to see another 4-4-2, too.
  11. The Savvidis family has a hard time keeping their mouths shut. Just makes us even more of a target than usual. George in particular doesn't appear to have any of his father's business acumen; he's the patron saint of rich kids with no brains.
  12. Isn't it redundant to say they're provided to the disabled and him?
  13. He needed to sit out a bit anyway. Will do him good. Biseswar can easily handle the playmaker duties for these matches. My lineup is pretty close to the above: --Pashalakis-- --Matos--Varela--Crespo--Vieirinha-- --Canas--Shakhov-- --Limnios--Biseswar--Warda-- --Prijovic--
  14. Looks like Varela and Hatseridi both trained normally today. Good news for them. Looks like El Kaddouri will start training normally from Tuesday onwards.
  15. I would not be surprised if Shakhov starts. He's in better shape and fits the role of a #8. We haven't played multiple DMs in some time...
  16. The player agents made the guy hit him?
  17. Pelkas got a hell of a cut there, currently on the sideline getting cleaned up
  18. So were our fans, like..........rude?
  19. Bad news, Mauricio is out for about four weeks. Expect us to go heavy on the DMs, unless El Kaddouri gets drafted as a central midfielder (or Shakhov makes a case for himself).
  20. I noticed that too; perhaps they managed to find someone with a super-8 camera in their mother's attic so they were finally able to televise a game. But it had to happen now because their mother only let them have it for a day?
  21. Ivan Leko (who was assistant to Tudor a few years back) was detained by authorities in relation to a fraud/money laundering/tax avoidance charge. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/club-brugge-anderlecht-ivan-leko-mogi-bayat-belgian-jupiler-league-corruption-probe-a8576921.html
  22. Good news about Varela, the injury will only keep him out of action for about 10 days. He'll be questionable for our match on the 21st, vs Aris.
