Bakesetas has turned it around.  Couldn't stand watching him start. Now I can see why he gets selected. Not saying that he is an automatic starter but definitely deserves a place on the team.

I agree, he may not do everything technically sound and he at times is very frustrating to watch but he's starting to turn out to be a leader and and produce regularly for this team.  So for the time being he deserves to be a starter. I more then anyone here has trashed him but he is starting to prove me wrong and i need to give him credit for how he's turned it around for the NT. I see the passion in him he has for the NT. In saying this i still don't think we are starting our absolute best line up. I think our midfield needs to change although Siopis is really working his ass off, and i think we have better options then Pelkas and Mantolas. I'm also hoping Fortounis starts to see regular playing time and think in tomorrows friendly would be a perfect opportunity to give him a chance. No need to have Pelkas and Mantalos play tomorrow we need to slowly move away from them and keep them as a bench option.

  2. Bakesetas will be an automatic starter. I'm not saying i agree with this at all but to be honest the last campaign he produced for us regularly and was a big part why we won the Nations League. You can tell he has the Greek passion and he wants to win with the NT team. I need to give credit where credit is due. In saying that i would love to see fortounis in as I think he can become the main player that controls the game as his talent is miles ahead of players like Bakesetas and company and has the skill to really control the pace of the game and break down opposing defenses. Give Fortounis some capable wingers and a decent striker and i think the dynamic of this team drastically changes. Just my two cents

Baldock deemed fit to play after missing training yesterday, he trained fully today. Bouchalakis and Ioannidis in doubt at this stage.

Don't think we'll see anything out of the ordinary in terms of the eleven, would be nice to see Fortounis and Konstantelias starting on the wings given it will be a game where we will dominate the ball and need creativity to break down a parked bus.

Don't think Poyet will start Konstantelias though, he's probably more likely to go Masouras or Pelkas. Pavlidis incredible form this season commands a starting spot for him, he'll be leading the line.

I agree i think Poyet will stick with what won him the nations league for the most part.

  5. Even though this group is the group of death and chances of us qualifying are slim I really hope we can show progress and hold our own with the Netherlands and France. even the other teams  will pose a challenge. It's unfortunate we got this group but until we start climbing the FIFA rankings these are the types of groups we can expect. We know the Netherlands and France will most likely only drop points to each other and i fully expect them to sweep through the other teams and at worst maybe getting a draw against us or Ireland. As we've said before our best and probably only realistic chance to qualify is through the Nations League that's why we would also want Turkey to qualify directly to avoid them as they would be our toughest challenge. But for now lets start of strong and bury Gibraltar.

I have been quiet lately on these forums, I guess I should give some input. I like Koulierakis from PAOK he seems to have it all at the age of 18. I feel Konstantelias is talented especially on the ball but has a lot to improve such as putting on more muscle and finishing. I don’t know why Koulierakis doesn’t get game time for the senior team. It wouldn’t hurt to see him in friendlies. The EPO and coach should be smarter to give these types of players game time. It would help with there development and help them improve. Also get a better contract in a better league. All I want is for our players to improve.

I’m tired of saying the same things that’s why I haven’t been on. I’m also tired of seeing the same things when it comes to the league and national team. That’s why I haven’t been on these forums and I feel like I’m almost giving up. Why do we have to see the same old players get called up for? Why can’t we change it around especially in friendlies? I know the answer it’s because no one wants Greece to progress in football and they are more out for the money. It’s tiring.

Theres no reason why countries who have a less population than us produce more players and make the tournaments and we don’t. Examples are like Croatia and Portugal. There’s need to some sort of structure and plan in place. Someone has to care for the betterment of football in Greece. We haven’t got many players playing in the top 5 leagues and we should. We have some exciting young players coming through but even they need improving and with time they will. I believe the national team needs more these young players in the team mixed in with players that play at the highest level.

There’s also not many Greeks playing the league itself. Only PAOK seem to be giving chances to Greeks.

Also how many times do we have to see Bouchalakis and Kourbelis in the midfield. It doesn’t work. I have to give some praise to Bakasetas though, I have been very critical with him he’s actually been scoring goals and assisting for Greece and that’s all we can ask for. He’s still isn’t our best footballer but if he can score the goals and assist I’m not complaining.

I talk like this because I really want the best for Greek football and the national team I just wish the higher ups did too.

I feel you man it's so frustrating. We are not maximizing our youth that are coming up. When and if they do sign for a big club outside of Greece they hardly get any playing time and the big clubs in Greece for the most part play foreigners. You cannot have a successful national team the way the current state of football is IMO. That's why every coach that comes here starts to scramble and resorts back to playing the same old names for the most part with the exception of a couple players. Until we have a better youth program and a the "big dogs" in charge start putting all resources to having a very strong football program and that means the big clubs in the Super league playing mostly Greek born players than nothing will change unfortunately.

  7. Santos was great for us but we cant go backwards now. Poyet deserves a chance to see what he can do. Plus there are no guarantees that Santos will magically make our team better as he doesn't have the same personalities and players he had when he was coaching this team. The make up of this team is very different he cant play his shut down style and grind out 1-0 wins with this current group we have IMO.

As it stands in League C Greece, Georgia, Kazakhstan & Turkey are assured a playoff.
If Greece don’t qualify directly as it stands we would play Turkey at home in first playoff match. I heard we would also host the final should we make it through.

So what happens if Turkey qualifies out of there Euro Group who replaces them in the nations league playoffs?
