Shockingly, Papachristou is in 5th place at 14.31. Was not expecting Eckhardt and Skvartsova to be in the medal position. Mamona broke Portugal's national indoor record of 14.53 and leading. Papachristou has 2 jumps left, she needs to deliver a late magic to grab any kind of a medal.

I read from SEGAS that she was injured after her second attempt at 4.70 when she landed on the mat awkwardly on her neck/shoulder blade and had to be taken to a medical facility to get an x-ray. Pray for a speedy recovery. ?

A valiant effort from Polak! She did the best she can to chase a medal and would have gotten bronze if she just went over 4.70. She finishes 5th place at 4.65. This is her best performance at any level in women's pole vault. Hopefully, she will do better.

Zikos finished 4th in the semifinal race with 6.67 and missed out on the finals. He would have needed 6.63 to get there. It's was kind of disappointing as I was expecting him to do better than what he ran in the heats. Tomorrow, Tsiamis will contest for a medal. He will need to improve greatly from his season's best 16.42. Papachristou is the heavy favorite to win gold if she continues to stay in top form, consistently jumping over 14.10 meters. Spandouaki will race on Sunday with Gatou and Samani. Please let this be the year Spanoudaki avoids another DSQ and qualify at least a spot in the semifinals.

Karidi didn't make the cut, finishing 11th with 13.69 Pesiridou didn't advance into the semifinals, finished 7th in the heat at 8.31, which is her SB. Zikos will be sprinting soon to try to qualify for the finals. Polak will be contesting for a medal as the women's pole vault event is wide open. Holly Bradshaw is the heavy favorite to win gold, silver and bronze will be up for grabs.

Filippidis finished 11th in qualifying with a mark of 5.50. What else is new? Zikos took advantage of Van Gool's DSQ (bronze medalist from Glasgow 2019) and won the heat with 6.67 to advance into the semifinals. Nyfantopoulos finished 3rd in his heat with 6.74, not good enough for the fastest 6 time for non-automatic qualifiers. As expected in the women's triple jump, automatic qualification for Papachristou at 14.39.

Tomorrow will be a busy day for the Greek athletes in the morning session. Polak is the only Greek to compete in tomorrow's evening session (unless Zikos reaches the finals in the men's 60 m). That men's long jump competition was super exciting! Not only Tentoglou successfully defended his European Indoor title, but the other two medalists broke their respective NR's.

Tsiamis makes the cut to the finals with a jump of 16.38 (6th place) while Andrikopoulos didn't finishing 13th with 15.61. Vasiliou won her heat with a PB of 52.76 and advances into the semifinals. Giannopoulou finished 6th in the heats at 2:08.62 and Marinakou finished 7th in the heats with a SB of 4:19.60. Tentoglou is competing for the finals and should give Greece it's first medal. The only opponent who can threaten him for gold is Tobias Nilsson Montler of Sweden.

As expected, Tentoglou automatically qualifies to the finals with a mark of 8.04, finishing 2nd behind Montler who finished 8.18. Peristeris achieved a PB of 7.61 and finished 11th. Dimitrakis finished 11th in the heats with a time of 3:44.05 and didn't qualify for the finals.

Both athletes are favorites to win gold medals as they are European leaders in both of their respective disciplines. Watch for Kostas Zikos to make another potential finals in the men's 60 meters. In the women's pole vault, the whole field appears to be favorable for Eleni Polak to get a medal as she is entering the competition second in Europe with her personal indoor best of 4.71, only Holly Bradshaw of Great Britain has a higher mark leading at 4.88.

Arsenal isn't doing too well in the EPL, 11th in the league. I believe Olympiakos can advance into their first ever quarterfinal appearance in the UEFA Europa League (UEFA Cup).

I am not expecting a win for Greece here, but I want Greece to put up a great fight like they did in Italy, where they lost 2-0.
