  1. Let me be clear, i dont give a s**t about ND or PASOK, PASOK is the one who in 1981 started the ridiculous Government spending and extremely generous welfare system, which has gotten us where we are today.

I also do not give a s**t about Germany, i despise them, they are a primitive people with no souls. And i know all about what they have done.

But it's about the now? What is going to happen next?

Just say by some miracle the debt is wiped clear, Greece under SYRIZA will just start spending money it doesn't have again, re-hiring public servants, putting pensions up and hiring more people in the public service, and In a short time we will once again be owing billions.

I sense SYRIZA want to get Greece out of the Eurozone, what happens next?

Exactly. Nobody cares about ND, Pasok, Golden Dawn, Petro the barber etc... Just calling a spade a spade. Syriza is a bunch of College radicals.  Talking about Germany in the 1940's doesn't take away from Greek incompetence.  They couldn't even balance a roll of quarters. Who would think a country in 2015 would run out paper so they can't print newspapers.  How screwed up is that.

  2. Tsipra will not magically evolve into a ''reformer'' and ''capitalist'' he is an ideologue first and foremost, proficient in rhetotic and slogan politics, he is very good at giving speeches, not so good in his actions

As has been mentioned SYRIZA is made up of many different smaller groups, each more nuttier than the last, Marxists, Trotskyists, Leninists, other types of extreme leftists and communists.

Now i'm hearing the words ''humanitarian aid'' for Greece!!! HUMANITARIAN AID. This is a disgrace

Even if it has only been 5 months, SYRIZA has re-hired public servants, thats it, it has done nothing else, and we're all kidding ourselves thinking SYRIZA is the saviour of Greece.

The parliament speaker Zoe Konstantopoulou is batshit crazy.  She would make Fidel Castro look like a reformer.

Greece does need humanitarian aid.  If you have cancer, you're out of luck.  No medicine.  How sad is that. This bank closure basically killed the country.  Funny they were on pace for GDP growth this year now of course they are lining up at ATM's to get out $60.  Sad.

  3. Gyros I think you're missing the point of all this....It's about economic growth, together with reforms....reforms that continue to shrink the economy doesn't make economic sense!!!

What's a better approach....I would rather start with 0 with a economic plan that will stop the shrinking economy, and in ten years reach 400....Or start at 400 with harsh austerity measures that continue to shrink the economy, and leave Greece at 0 in ten years.

We can make the argument that Greece is at 0 ATM....So with the drachma, can we not say, the only way is up now?

We aren't at zero. Going from 800 Eu pension to the buying power of 200 Eu is a huge hit. Then you guys keep mentioning growth but I see no specifics. Growth from what industry? Tourism is at record levels so that won't help much. Greece hasn't had industry since the 70's. What is going to grow? I'm curious. Slogans and blind patriotism doesn't put food on the table.

  4. If reducing the average pension to 800 euros is so painful, how painful will it be if you switch to drachma and have the buying power of 200 euro? Is Greece better with 13% unemployment and 500 euro salaries with the new currency? If the youth don't want to work for 650 a month, how would they feel about 500 a month in drachmas?

  5. The only way I see Greece getting a haircut on the debt is if it agrees to some sort of milestone agreement. Basically, in three months, if Greece has implemented X, Greece gets to keep the interest payments from an escrow account. In 6 months, if Greece's reforms are still being met, maturities get pushed back....

That's the only way. You need to be trusted first. Rumors are a summit will be held on Greece this Sunday. Will the banks make it to Sunday?

  6. OK, you win this round gyros!

I didn't win anything. It's disappointing that Greece is on the brink and they show up without proposals. Show some urgency and respect to the other member nations. It's 5 months straight of wasting time and playing games.

  7. Where did you get that from gyros? I'm reading the opposite.

I guess we are both projecting what we want. You want Greek people to be victim-blamed by the world and for Greeks to be humiliated and die; I want the exact opposite.

    We'll see who's right.

From Eleni Varvitsiotis. She just tweeted it

  8. At this point accepting it will be the only way out especially since he has everyone on board (well except for KKE and GD).

They can all share the blame in this.  There is no way he can continue playing hardball with no money.  Its not like they are capable of moving out of the Euro to a new currency.  I don't think Syriza is capable of running a peanut stand.

  9. Weren't the banks supposed to re-open and capital controls stopped? Isn't that what SYRIZA said?

Whatever concessions SYRIZA are hoping for from the Eurozone will be IRRELEVANT because they will not reform the bloated bureaucracy and ridiculous social welfare schemes. Only a few people have mentioned this on here whilst most have ignored it.

SYRIZA are not reformers, they are populists and agitators.

So what happens next does anyone know?

Europe is squeezing these idiots hard right now.  Nobody cares about the "mandate".  I mean I don't like paying my bills every month either and if their was a mandate on if I liked paying my bills I would vote "OXI" too.  Interesting press release today by the ECB.  Pretty much tells the Greek banks to get lost and one of the 4 major banks has no physical money. The Greek newspapers only have enough paper to print for this week and then they have no paper.

  10. If they don't open the banks by Friday, Greece will need humanitarian help.  Already hearing from pharmacists medications for cancer, thyroid, and insulin is out of stock.  Funny how the "Rock Star" quit today

    I loved this

Got his 6 months of world wide publicity and now off to give speeches and sell books and make millions while Greece suffers.  Another SCUM who took advantage of the Greek people.

  11. Jvc,

Just some advice.  You're showing your youth right now. Take a few deep breaths and realize this isn't a sporting event.  There is no negotiations planned for tomorrow between Greece and the EU.  Their is a Eurogroup meeting planned for Tuesday and a possible summit on Greece later this week.  The head banker of Greece was just quizzed on ERT and he only could say that the ATM's will be working tomorrow and nothing further.  Please don't gloat and act like you won.  Nobody won tonight.  Greece is a miserable country and will be for years. More austerity is on the way.

  12. Gyros America in the end will back up Greece....They will not become Africa!!!

The deal is already being discussed as we speak, and all parties will walk away looking like rock stars....The doomsday scenario that you're predicting will not happen.

Greece's geographic location saves them again.

Greece will wake up tomorrow to closed banks.  This vote means nothing except to allow Syriza to last another day.  The doomsday scenario happened this week.

  13. Will be an ugly week for Greece.  Frozen economy.  The OXI people will quickly tap out with no money this week.

Note to all you youngsters out there.  Save your money and make sure you control your financial destiny. You don't want to be like Greece and put into a corner with no other options.

  14. Jim

I agree with you here.  Some of the posters on this board are either young or far removed from Greece and do not know any better.  Its like the people at the church who mean well but they can't speak more than "Ti Kaneis" and their only exposure to Greece was a 1 week vacation in 2003 on some group tour.  They don't understand everyday Greek life and all the obstacles and crap people have to go through to get anything done or all the corruption.  I'm not dissing anyone with their opinion but its obvious that some people are not in the know and try to use United States capitalism and Greek governing which that is like trying to mix oil and water.
