  1. If the Greek NT was filled with players from Niki Volos, OFI, Ergotelis, Kavala and the other clubs under financial stress then logically they may well not to be motivated to play for the national team as they aren't getting paid!

However this is NOT now not never been the case.

Did the Venezuela players fail to progress past the Quarters in the Copa America because their country is facing hyper inflation where a carton of eggs costs $200??? No!

The majority of the Greece team were not based in Greece. This is not a factor.

It's not even close to being plausible.

  2. to be fair to randolph he has had a decent run of games up til yesterday he was very good in the both play off games v bosnia and the first match calm composed against sweden.....yesterday the goals where not his fault at all!! did you even watch the match? or i bet you saw only the highlights!..our midfield was terrible mccarthy whelan let us down big time..the cohesion the chemistry between the defence and midfield was not there!! they had forgotten as almost what it was and can be/should be like!!!!..hence why long up top was so fustrated and isolated!!...........keane is legend his deserves to be there one last time and his not starter again pointless statement many country's have brought some of there veteran players before to the finals!...best of luck with belguim and bosina in the coming months B)

Yes I did watch the match live and in full and Randolph didn't impress me albeit he wasn't really at fault for the goals. Truth is he performed better than Santos's pet Chalkias at Euro 2008.

As for Keane yes he's been very prolific but I was only pointing how when teams pull out their fading stars it's clutching at straws much like Greece relying on an aging Karagounis and Katsouranis.

As for fearing Bosnia. You make me laugh. Ireland beat them in the playoffs but so what?

  3. True about Belgium but they do underachieve. So you don't know what you'll get. Same applies for the Ethniki.

The truth is that Ireland per player are not on the same page as Greece. Their keeper looks like an amateur and they are still playing a 36yo Keane.

Let's see which Ethniki turns up for the qualifiers.

  4. Aek66, what's your concern with my post?

The fact that he was born in Nafplio which is geographically close to Tripoli or my logical opinion that he wouldn't consider Asteras even if they were interested in him.

I think you misunderstood my post.

  5. Rooney paid all this money to get a hair transplant but he's still going bald.

Anyway, England are bollocks but still better than a rubbish Wales team. Deserved that win.

Wales will still probably go through either in second place or best 3rd place.

Roy Hodgson is a talentless geezer as a manager. His team won because he has better players, not because he knows what he's doing.

  6. Ha ha, the first thing I thought was Hernan Crespo must be in his 40's ?! Man, he was a good striker.

Yeah he turns 41 in 2 weeks.

I had to look his age up as I was going to say that he's younger than you, but turns out he's also younger than me too!

  7. Just watched the replay of France v Albania.

Albania is well organised but generally low level football team. Brilliant to see the nail in the Albanian coffin was scored by a player with a Greek name. Dimitri Payet is a Paiktara too!

  8. Gotta say I was extremely impressed with Albania today. They counter attacked well, and crowded the ball carrier. Seems like they were very worn down towards the end, and the French were able to finally put 2 past them. But all in all, whether we like them or not, it was a gutsy performance and I have to give them credit.

True. Perhaps Zeus was looking down from Olympus and blessing them.

  9. LOL They are easy to confuse.

Anyway, Russia shows that Greece aren't the only team to defend a corner like amateurs and Hamsik with a cracker makes it 2-0.

To think that Russia had the better and now they are down by 2. No way they come back now.

  10. I think an established nation will win it (France, Germany, Italy or Spain).

Im writing off Belgium although they will probably get out of the group. Of the so-called dark horses, Croatia did impress albeit against a poor Turkey but Portugal might go far if Ronaldo is up for it.

Austria is overrated. Hungary is playing above their abilities to even have gotten in to the tournament.

  11. Finally Spain score.

All over the Czechs the last 20 minutes so they deserved that goal.

Interesting how the English commentators are praising the Czech defending, but when Greece were defending like that they were criticised and humiliated.

  12. I'm curious to see how Belgium go later against Italy. If they blow the Italians away then this won't be a good sign for our qualifiers.

Btw, I hope Skibbe has his full attention on this tournament and is learning lessons that he can apply to the Ethniki.

Stuff is going to get real very, very soon. Getting a 0-0 against Turkey in hindsight isn't so impressive after watching how pathetic they were yesterday.
