Irlandos
Apollon Lemesos have been handed a difficult - but not impossible - task of playing Cork City of Rep. of Ireland in the CL's first qualifying round. Good luck to Apollon!

DUDE
Apollona play Cork tomorrow, and a positive result in Ireland could set them on their way. Cork are said to have problems within the camp, (the midfielder O'Callaghan has had a bust-up with the manager and could be dropped), on the other hand Apollona are unified and ready for the challenge, their most famous fan Marcos Baghdatis might be at the game! How cool would that be?? Ela Apollona, gama tous mana!!!!!

Irlandos
The game is today. Teams from Eire play nearly all year round which gives them a big advantage in the early rounds of the CL over teams that are just back from holidays. Let's hope Apollon can come through with a good result! :)
Irlandos
First leg: Cork City - Apollon Limassol 1-0 (62' Billy Woods) It could've been worse...
DUDE
First leg: Cork City - Apollon Limassol 1-0 (62' Billy Woods) It could've been worse... Apollon showed enough to suggest that they can overturn the defecit, in fact they nearly did when Sosin hit the post in the 82nd minute.
drakos13
well if they fail to make it good luck to Cork...i find it bizarre that Irish teams/league are so bad...so many good players in the past youd think they could at least make it to 3-4th round UEFA occasionally... Irlandos
The CL campaign is already over for Apollon: 1-1 draw and elimination. Sosin opened the scoring giving us all some hope but the Corkmen equalised about 10 minutes later... :( Better luck to the big two in the UEFA Cup... :)

Perimena kalitera. Bajevic said he expected Apollona too but it wasnt to be. Good luck to Omonia & APOEL. Also to Red Star Belgrade, it will be good to see them back in the CL (assuming they dont draw AEKARA of course)!
GS1905
...Bajevic said he expected Apollona... man, that's the moment the Cypriot team lost the tie...whatever Bajevic says or does, the opposite happens...

But thats another topic. Its such a shame Apollona are out. I was hoping we could have seen a repeat of last season when a Cypriot team raped a Turkish team in the CL qualifiers, but it wasnt to be this year. Looks like we'll just have to wait til next season when Anorthosi are in it again. :gr: :gr: :gr:
GS1905
I was hoping we could have seen a repeat of last season when a Cypriot team raped a Turkish team... cool off mate, 3-1 / 0-1 isn't a raping, is it?? you say as if the games ended 4-0 each... :la:
DUDE
cool off mate, 3-1 / 0-1 isn't a raping, is it?? you say as if the games ended 4-0 each... :la: A raping is the causation of a painful or harsh defeat! Whether its 5-0 or 1-0 its the magnitude of the win not necessarily the margin. Anorthosis raped Trabzon, and not even a regular raping in the park but a prison-style-anal raping! Anyway, how come you commented on that? Hit a nerve did I? :gr:
Irlandos
A little reminder: the topic is Apollon Limassol (not Anorthosis) v. Cork City (not Trabzonspor)... ;)
Irlandos
...and how the  was Cork City pitted against Apollon in the 1st qualifying stage??? There is supposed to be a geographic grouping. The Corkmen are FAR more advanced in physical conditioning than any Cypriot club! They should have been thrown into the Northern European grouping! UEFA does it again!
GS1905
There is supposed to be a geographic grouping. oh, you'r right!! you would be playing Fenerbahce which means direct passage...

They cant play in the heat. What happened was a shock result, it happens in football. If they played again Apollona would be favourites again. What is ridiculous is the fact that Cypriot teams have to start in the 1st round. Last year Anorthosis made it to the final round, if I'm not mistaken the year before Apoel were in the last round against Sparta Prague only to lose on away goals. And Anorthosis have been to the last on a number of occassions. Shouldnt the Cypriot sides start at the 2nd round?
Irlandos
Friend Ethnikisti, The Eircom championship is going on as we speak. It is nearly year-round now. Cork are in as good a physical shape as they are going to be. Apollon on the other hand have not played competitively since Spring.
