supra
after Greece won euro2004 it is time for greek clubs to make an impact in european club competitions to establish Greece as a truly european powerhouse Don't you think more more quality foreign players should be brought to upgrade the greek league? Batigol
Hello Supra...welcome to the forums. What you're asking is more easily said than done. Sure the intent is there, but the money and the desire on the part of those foreign players to come and play in Greece is something else.
aiolosply
Guys, I believe a flower blossoms from within. So if the organasation of the whole Greek football system doesn't change, don't expect from a few foreign players to change anyting significantly. As a matter of fact, really good foreign players have been coming to Greek clubs from a long time ago...did that have an impact that could change greek football for the better? It only helped in the short run, it brought some spectacle but lets face it people, you don't start building from the top, but from the bottom. NEEDED: 1.Football academies(Club academies) 2.Sport education in schools 3.Legal framework for sports(...) any other ideas???

Korisos
Theres also this problem with hooligans, a lot of people don't bother showing up at games because they're afraid of being injured so becaue of those few groups intent on violence they scare off a large majority of people and that deprives teams of valuable revenues. Theres not enough being done between clubs and the police, the EPO should step in here    Speaking of which, the EPO needs a shake up, I mean our players still not getting paid their bonus for winning euro, it's just ridiculous, they need a shake up then something can be done. Bringing in foreign players won't do the trick because they stay here for a couple of seasons and get spotted by a bigger club and off they go. we need long term solutions, start with the youths and develop our own homegrown talent, one way to do this, better educate coaches and referees and bring in some foreigners to help out. But don't worry too much, Otto said he would do something about our youth system before he retires. Anyways great topic!
