Recommended Posts

EXPERIENCED midfielder Andy Vlahos is set to return from Belgium to become Melbourne Victory's first overseas signing.

Vlahos agreed to a three-year contract with Victory when in Melbourne for Christmas and may forego the rest of his contract with Cercle Brugge to be at Victory's first training session on March 1.

"Cercle want to talk to him," Vlahos's manager Eddie Krncevic said yesterday.

"If it's not a really good offer, he's interested in coming home.

Melbourne Victory has continued its impressive player recruitment drive by signing Cercle Brugge midfielder Andy Vlahos.

Vlahos, who will link up with the A-League club in June, is the second Australian based in Belgium that Melbourne has signed following the deal that will see Lierse's Socceroos striker Archie Thompson return home in May.

The 28-year-old Vlahos, who has also played overseas with Panathaniakos and Agios Nikolaos, has spent the last two seasons at Cercle Brugge but says he is looking forward to a new challenge
