Giannis Goumenos, the PAE PAOK president talked for over one hour on the Thessaloniki radio station Extra Sport.

His main subject was the new Toumba. He claimed that there are at least 7 to 8 real estate and finance banks willing to invest in building the new Toumba. He said it will be 31,000 - 34,000 seat stadium and all the seats will be covered by a roof. The best quote was the deadlines he set for building the new stadium:

20-05-2005; The current Toumba will be demilished

2005-2006 season: PAOK willplay at Kaftazoglio

30-08-2006: PAOk will move to the new and modern Toumba

Goumenos also also took blame for the fact that PAOK did not acquire new players during the summer. He said that he made a mistake for listening to some people (Anastasiadis) who did no want to make transfers, but in the end he es the one to blame, because after all he is the president of the club.

Additionaly he said that PAE PAOK officials, coaching staff and players will meet once a month for dinner at local tavernas in order to bring everyone together as one big family.

That's cool, at least he admitted his mistakes. Hopefully the once a month get togethers with everyone will help. At least he's doing something. :P

I wonder who is going to foot the bill for these dinners? Is the president going to pay, or are they going dutch?

It's all fine and good for him to say that he made a huge mistake with the transfers but what about owning up to all the other mistakes they've made as well. As far as a new Toumba is concerned, he's pretty ambitious with that timeline of construction and the financing.

That's why I think he is blowing hot air. All Goumenos did was run his mouth. He claims he has 10 investor for building Toumba, but nowhere did he provide architectural drawings, any construction company names, or any other financial details whatsaever. All he said is that new Toumba will be build by August 2006.

All this was announced through a radio interview from some taverna in Thessaloniki. Any serious PAE president that has plans on announcing such a major project, such as a new 75 million Euro stadium calls a press conference, offers details and releases some kind of documents detailing the new stadium.
