Hello,

Which "family" has a history of professional football players?

1. Grandfather, Son, Grandson!

a) Seitaridis Family:(Greek)

Giourkas Seitaridis (Grandfather) - played for Prodeftiki 1945 - 1955?

? Seitaridis (Son) - played for PAO & Giannena in ???

Giourkas (Giorgos) Seitaridis( Grandson)- played for PAO, currently with FC Porto.

2. Father & Son

a) Cruyff Family: (Dutch)

Johan Cruyff (Father) - Ajax, Barcelona

Jordi Cruyff (Son)- Barcelona, Man.Utd, Espanyol

B) Veron Family: (Argentina)

??? Veron (Father) - played for PAO in the 1960's?? or 1970's??

Juan Sebastion Veron (Son) - Man Utd, Chelsea, currently with Inter Milan.

c) Lampard Family: (England)

Frank Lampard (Father) - West Ham & England 1970's & 1980's

Frank Lampard Jnr (Son)- West Ham, currently at Chelsea.

d) Saravakos Family:(Greek)

I can remember several father-son combinations:

Cesare Maldini (early 1960's) - Paolo Maldini : Both Milan.

Manuel Sanchis, Snr. (1960's) and Manuel Sanchis, Jnr. - Both Real Madrid.

Pablo Forlan (1960's - 1970's) and Diego Forlan.

Cudicini father and son.

Toskas father and son.

Takis Papoulidis (1950's - 1960's) and his son who never caught on as a player.

Also Alan Ball of the 1966 English team was the son of a footballer (before my time  )

As for brothers...

The Papazoglou brothers, The Kamaras brothers, the Serafeidis brothers, the Simigdalas brothers and the Intzoglou brothers to name a few.

I also remember an uncle-nephew combination on the same team: Giorgos and Nikos Sideris of Olympiakos.

Thanks Irlandos & Grigoris,

And nice addition - Irlandos, "Brothers" well thought of....

1. I suppose the most "Famous" would be "The 5 Andrianopoulos Brothers", of Olympiakos, 1920's to 1930's of which only Leonidas is still allive....

2. Helmis brothers, Giannis & Vaggelis again of Olympiakos, in the 1940's & 50's.

(both have passed away).

Im sure that there is many more!!!!!!

Im interested to see if "The Seitaridis Family", is the only family with- "Grandfather,Son & Grandson" history.... A fantastic achievement, as I think also that Giourkas' (FC Porto) Uncle also played in Greece while his father was playing.....

Thanks again

How about the Dimopoulos brothers in the 1980's? Christos, Thanasis and Foukos.

Around the same time Milan had the Galli brothers: Giovanni and Filippo.

Last year AEK had two first cousins: Sotiris and Nikos Liberopoulos.

Btw, can anyone tell us if the Serie A' Inzaghis are related?

Arnor Gudjohnsen (Anderlecht, when we were European top '70s 80's)

Eidur Gudjohnsen (PSV, Bolton, Chelsea) born in 1978

the only father-son couple ever to play in the same international game

(for Iceland)

not together however

"On April 24th 1996 Eidur was supposed to play in the same international match as his father Arnor, then 34. Against Estonia in Tallin, Eidur replaced his father as a second half substitute, maintaining the record that no father and son have ever been on the field at the same time in the same international, however it was the first time a father and son played in the same international."

Other names spring to mind...

Noni Lima who played for Panionios and Daniel Batista who played for Ethnikos, AEK and Olympiakos were uncle and nephew.

Inter great, Sandro Mazzola, was the son of Torino great Valentino Mazzola. Sandro's younger brother, Ferrucio(?), also played for Inter at one time.

And let's not forget Pele's son had a go at tending goal for FC Santos at one time...

Here is an interesting one: Christian Vieri is an Italian international, yet his younger brother Max is an Australian international. Both were born in Australia. However, when Max realised that he would never get a call-up to the Azzuri, he chose his second option at international football - the Socceroos.

Can anyone think of any other family relations that were internationals for different countries?
