Ziaka Posted August 18, 2003 Share Posted August 18, 2003 Here is how things stand out for rights to home games in Greece: NETMED (Supersport) - AEK, Iraklis Alpha TV - Panathinaikos*, PAOK* TV Magic - Olympiakos** * - Alpha will sell to Supersport most of the home games of PAO and PAOK. Alpha will only show the "big games" by the two teams. ** - Olympiakos home games will be on TV Magic, but they will let other stations throughout Greece to show the games for a fee, which rumored to be 60,000 Euro per game. Ziaka Posted August 19, 2003 Author Share Posted August 19, 2003 Following today's actions, here is the TV rights landscape in Greece: NETMED (Supersport): AEK, Aigaleo, Akratitos, Ionikos, PAOK, Panathinaikos, Kallithea - (Alpha that held the rights for PAOK and PAO home games sold those rights to Supersport) TV MAGIC: Olympiakos WITHOUT TV CONTRACT: Panionios, Chalkydona, Xanthi, Paniliakos, Iraklis, OFI, Aris, Proodevtiki, TV Magic is trying to sign Panionios, Chalkydona and Xanthi, while tommorrow there is a meeting to take place between the "asteges" teams concerning the TV rights. As for the rest, they are also most likely to end up with Netmed, although some of them are in negotiations with TV Magic. The Olympiakos deal with Magic TV is as follows. PAE Olympiakos sold the rights to a company called Sports United, which is also owed by the Kokkalis empire. Sports United in turn awarded the rights to TV Magic, another Kokkalis holding. TV Magic will show the games in the Attiki area. Sports United is expected to sell the rights to Olympiakos games to local stations throughout Greece for a fee, which is said to be around 60,000 Euro per game. This means that the Aris home games will be available on Superport.
