Standard trf in: Leonard, Mido(?), Marco Simone(?)

Recommended Posts

Belgian international defender Philippe Leonard has ended an eight-year spell in France by signing for the club that launched his career, R. Standard de Liege.

One-year contract

The 30-year-old left back, who spent four seasons at Standard before moving to AS Monaco FC in 1996, has signed a one-year contract with the team that finished third in the Belgian First Division last term.

Free agent

Leonard drifted in and out of the senior side during seven years at Monaco, winning French championships in 1997 and 2000. He joined OGC Nice last season and made 14 appearances before he was released in the summer.

Bisconti fee

Travelling in the opposite direction to Leonard is former Belgium midfield player Roberto Bisconti. Nice have paid Standard a reported €1m for the 31-year-old, who has agreed a two-year deal. Bisconti was previously with Aberdeen FC and R. Charleroi SC.

On the move

Standard have also parted company with Portuguese midfield player Almani Da Silva Moreira, the 26-year-old having gone to Hamburger SV on a season's loan with the option of a permanent transfer next summer.
