JOHNNY
It looks like interest in the Scottish game could be heading for an all time low, after reports that only 20,000 people have signed up for subscriptions for live SPL action. The Irish pay per view channel Setanta who won the rights to broadcast a live game every week, reportedly need 90,000 viewers to break even. Maybe they are counting on gaining additional viewers in Ireland, America and Australia. Any idea on how many viewers pay subscription to watch Greek league matches? JOHNNY
Just read a report, which states that most club's season ticket sales are down too. Some interesting figures that highlight the gulf: Celtic - 52,000 (11,500 waiting list!!) Rangers - 39,000 Dundee United 5,000 Dunfermline - 3,000 Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian are probably around the 9,000 mark, while the lower clubs will be lucky to reach 2-3000. JOHNNY
The principle reason why the Old Firm will continue in their bid to join the English Premiership.........CASH! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...rem/3538726.stm I wonder whether their fans will still turn out in huge numbers when they are not winning every week, sitting at best mid table in the Premiership, and more importantly - NOT IN EUROPEAN COMPETITION. Will they want to come back?
