Irlandos
The big two derby of Belfast (Linfield - Glentoran) went the blues' way and Linfield have now clinched their 45th (ouch!) championship. How well they do in the CL qualifiers remains to be seen. Glentoran are hoping for a victory in the Irish Cup final, v. Coleraine, to console themselves on a rather poor year. (Better luck next year! :) )
JOHNNY
We hear very little about your league across the Irish Sea. I know some of the players play in the national team, but what standard of football do you see, and what kind of crowds to the matches attract. Do you attend games? Irlandos
The standard of football is not the greatest as anyone who is anyone has already crossed the Irish Sea. E.g. Stuart Elliot left champions Glentoran for Motherwell and is currently at Hull. The only Irish League player currently on the NT (sometimes) is Andy Smyth though some fans have been pushing for more as the British-based players often cannot be bothered. The Irish League attendance figures are not as great as they once were but Linfield - Glentoran derbies still draw around 10,000.
