Panahaiki dropped to D' Ethniki

Following objections from Agrotikos Asteras, the Undrsecretary of Sports has announced that the Committee of Proffesional Sports (EEA) has withdrawn the license from Panahaiki Patras, and orders them to be dropped from the B' Ethniki to D' Ethniki as a result of non-payment of debts.

That is despite the fact that allready one round of the championship has been played. Panahaiki drew 1-1 with Kerkyra.

It will now be interesting to see who will replace Panahaiki in B' Ethniki. Don't forget that EPAE/EPO still has to decide on who will replace Olympiakos Volos in that competition.

EEA has announched that the lincences are temporary. If the teams do not make the payments towards their debts on time, then the licences will be withdrawn.

Panachaiki is the first victim of this rule, but several teams may follow (akoute ekei ston Ari?)

If this continues it will turn the all the competitions upside down.

I am all for these procedure to continue, but once the license has been issued, it should not be taken away once the competitions start. They should wait until the end of the season to withdraw the license.

As for Aris, they better get their act together. I am still surprised that they will be taking part in the UEFA Cup.

I agree Ziaka, but partially. I think that the best thing so that the leagues would not be affected is to force the teams to forfeit their games untill they catch up with their payments.

This is what they did last year with Trikala and Nafpaktiakos. This way it doesn't change the composition of its league every month.

Panachaiki played this weekend, but things don't look good for them.

First of all they have problems collecting the money they need to give to keep pace with the payment of their depts. They travel to Crete for the game with Ergotelis by boat to reduce expenses!!!

The people of Patra doesnot seem to care.

They wanted to start a demonstration in the streets of Patra and only 50 people showed up!!!!

The target of Panachaki now is to lose only one division, not 2. They claim (and they are right) that since the championship started, they shouldn't be relegated immediatelly, but instead they should forfeit every game until they pay back what they own (This was the case with Trikala and Nafpaktos last year). And if they don't make it then they take the 16th spot in the B' Division and the next year will play in C' Division (if they manage then to get a license by the authorities).

EPAE [as its president Kanelopoulos (prospective candidate in the next national elections in the continent of Achaias) said] will take a decision after the ruling of the Athletic Jugde.

But OLPA (Organization of the Patra Port) which is a goverment organization decided to give 56000 Euro to Panachaiki to make their due payments and thus avoid immidiate relegation.
