The skilful striker broke through the club's youth ranks, but had recently lost ground on regular starters Kevin Kuranyi and Imre Szabics and following the signing of Basel star Marco Streller this week, he felt obliged to move on. “It’s sad that it has to end this way, but I want to play regularly as I would like to go to Euro 2004 this summer,” said Amanatidis.
