no wrong, winners of each league do qualify for the actualy tournament. hence you here people complaining about the likes of luxembourg and kosovo having the chance to reach the euros through this system. we'll have to see the draw for the actual qualifiers but i think this system will offer us a better chance. especially when you think that greece will be a pot 3 team again for the qualification for the european championship which means we'll have a tough draw. potential opponents for the euro qualifiers;
pot1; germany, portugal, belgium, spain, france, england, switzerland, italy, poland, iceland
pot2; croatia, netherlands, austria, wales, russia, slovakia, sweden, ukraine, ireland, bosnia
pot3; nothern ireland, denmark, czech republic, turkey, hungary, romania, scotland, slovenia, greece, serbia
pot4; albania, norway, montenegro, israel, bulgaria, finland, cyprus, estonia, lithuania, azerbaijan
pot5; vardarska, belarus, georgia, armenia, latvia, faroes, luxembourg, kazakhstan, moldova, liechtenstein
pot6; malta, andorra, kosovo, san marino, gibraltar
what would be great imo
iceland/poland/switzerland
slovakia/bosnia/russia
greece
lithuania/azerbaijan/cyprus
armenia/latvia/moldova
san marino/gibraltar/andorra

these are the pots of our league (c)
pot 1; romania, scotland, slovenia, hungary
pot 2; serbia, greece, norway, albania
pot 3; bulgaria, montenegro, israel, finland
pot 4; lithuania, cyprus, estonia.
i think we have a great chance of making it to the euros. i also think that serbia will qualify to the tournament by their qualification group which means if we reach the final we're there. i also give some chances to scotland and slovenia which gives us more opportunities. a good group would be;
romania/hungary
greece
israel/bulgaria
lithuania/cyprus
the bad version;
slovenia/scotland
greece
montenegro/finland
cyprus
playing against romania or hungary means we're almost a lock for the semi finals as i think not only we're better than those teams but they're also likely not to win the rest of their games. slovenia or scotland will be obviously more difficult.

italy-nothern ireland; fifa already lost chile, netherlands and the usa. losing italy would be too much so they'll give them the worse team out there which is nothern ireland.
just a prediction about the rest.
switzerland-greece
ireland-denmark
croatia-sweden.

probably we'll score a couple more goals but this is ugly to watch.
good news portugal is winning in the half time.

Something to keep our eyes on, Mitro, Tzavella, Stafylidi and Retso are one yellow away from missing the first leg of the play-off (assuming we get it done tonight) Losing Mitro would be a disaster, while if we lost both our left backs it would leave us with a hole
i don't think they're idiots enough to take a yellow in a game against gibraltar? i believe stafylidis should have taken one too though. but i can see them taking one in the first playoff game and miss the second one.

I haven heard of that until now so I just googled it. Nice that means every summer we get some type of tournament right? World Cup, the following summer nations tournament and the summer after that euro? Is that right?
well in fact scratch that, that's our pot which means we can't draw any of them. instead we'll get;
from pot 1; one of romania, hungary, scotland, slovenia
from pot 3; one of montenegro, isreal, bulgaria, finland
from pot 4; one of cyprus, estonia, lithuania
winners of each group will play in the semi finals and then in the final.
this system guarantees an extra ticker for the european championship and means if we don't get there from our qualifying group we'd still have a chance by winning this one. in general it replaces the old system of friendly games. these games will be played between next september to next november while the semi finals around june of 19.
euro qualification starts on march of 19.

I doubt karelis will play in play offs
i think around august he said he would be back in 2 months, which means he should be fine in the mid of november.

you'll watch him today i'm afraid and not as a dm. here's the most probable starting 11.
karnezis
maniatis, sokratis, papadopoulos, tzavellas
zeca, tziolis
mantalos, fortounis, stafylidis/christodoulopoulos
mitroglou

http://www.footballseeding.com/national-ranking-uefa/ranking-2017/ check here..
take a look at nations league in wiki, it will clarify the things..bit bored to explain.
-
not the appropriate topic but since most of you have heard about the nations league thing going up next september..that's our group if we do beat gibraltar
serbia, albania, norway, greece

ffs denmark would be AMAZING to get.
basically denmark >> switzerland > italy > croatia for me.
we owe them something from that game in oaka for the 1998 wc qualification where we needed the win in if i'm not mistaken we hit the post twice in the last min..
as i said fifa would like to have italy around so they'll get nothern ireland, while i predict switzerland will get ireland and croatia-sweden
-
hopefully tziolis won't be playing in the playoffs. i'd rather see a samaris-tachtsidism midfield with donis and karelis on the wings and torosidis/stafylidis as defensive backs. tzavellas has done ok this campaign but we can't play stafylidis as a winger just to make room for him to play in the starting xi. i also think tziolis would never play had we gone to zenica without samaris and tachtsidis but looks like he impressed skibbe positively and he keeps rewarding him.
let's see how karelis will do in the next month, he'll be a welcome addition to the nt again after more than a year. i just hope lazaros will be still in the squad and not be replaced by some mpakasetas. i mean how is that guy nt material? he doesn't even play in aek and lazaros has been killing it yet we needed people to scream out for lazaros to make the squad.

i made some calculations and its unlikely for them to be unseeded even if they lose. at the worst case they will be the worst seeded on points team. worst and most possible possible scenario;
seeded; italy, switzerland, wales, croatia
unseeded; greece, denmark, sweden, nothern ireland
worst 2nd slovakia
best scenario
switzerland, nothern ireland, sweden, italy
greece, slovakia, serbia, denmark
worst 2nd ukraine/croatia
-
i don't think it will be retsos, more likely tzavellas. in the midfield i hope to see one of kourmpelis or tachtsidis instead of the usual suspect but i know im not getting it.
-
im pretty sure fifa wants italy to be there (same for portugal but they will advance by beating switzerland in the last game) so they won't give them a tough draw. i predict an italy-nothern ireland match-up if anything.
i think we'll play against switzerland, although most of these teams are quite solid and it will be quite hard to advance.
-
i also hope ukraine beats croatia. i think we'll be in from today as scotland won't beat slovenia (they barely escaped from a game at home against slovakia with a 90th min own goal and all that while playing with 1 man up from the 20th minute).
-
i was watching some athletic show and slovakia beating malta was amongst the results we needed to happen. but it was the first time i saw this scenario so they were probably mistaken.
-
stafylidis is not a winger like skibbe insists to play him. that's why he looks terrible at times, as mantalos does. both are not wingers and they have been asked not to overlook their defensive duties. if karelis is healthy for the playoffs i wouldn't mind watching him and donis as wingers, fortounis behind mitroglou, samaris and zeca in the midfield along with the usual backline.

-
donis doesn't play, as well as manolas, samaris and probably torosidis.
i would go for; karnezis, tzavellas, papadopoulos, sokratis, stafylidis, zeca, tachtsidis, mantalos, fortounis, christodoulopoulos, mitroglou.
-
as much difficult is for us to get a playoff spot, the likes of scotland which have to win in slovenia and ireland which have to win wales or croatia which have to win in ukraine, what about them? we have probably one of the easiest fixtures out there even if it's not completely up to us.
-
im reading in case scotland drops points to slovenia we'll also need slovakia to beat malta, dunno why. not saying it won't happening but still.

A win is a win, but we may regret missed chances, e.g. Torosides header 2nd half, Mantalos 1 on 1 in 1st half and hitting the post in 2nd half. Mitroglou shooting from a tight angle when Fortounis made a good run in the box.
Our goal difference is +4, and our only chance now, is to beat Gibraltar and hope for one of the following results:
1. Slovenia to draw or beat Scotland
2. Ireland to draw or beat Wales
3. Serbia lose or draw with Georgia
4. Ukraine and Croatia draw
Other possibilities are unlikely e.g. Northern Ireland would need to lose by 2 or more goals vs Azerbaijan at home and Denmark would need to lose by 4 goals to Romania. Sweden +10 goal difference, can only go out if Holland beats them by 5 or 6 goals.
Samaris and Manolas both got yellow cards and will miss the match with Gibraltar.
nothern ireland are playing on the road against norway, so such a result isn't impossible at all. but definitely there are better chances for us.

blowing it away against gibraltar would be amazing imo. especially if tomorrow we get the result we want in slovenia/scotland
