If Ouzonidis will be NT coach, we can as well shoot ourselves in the head. I hope we can qualify and Skibbe remains.
Donis' injury seems to be serious. Transfermarkt says he wont be available until the end of this year. President of Stuttgart says they wanna sign new attackers because of lots of injured and out of form players.
More problems: our players dont seem to get game time on this last occasion before play-off games.
Bundesliga: Stafylidis is still injured (another problem, did you know anyway?), Retsos was subbed after first half and 0-1, Sokratis played 90 minutes (they lost 2-4 to Hannover), K. Papadopoulos too (Hamburg lost to Hertha, 1-2, he gave an assist, however).
Serie A: Torosidis still injured, at least Oikonomou (SPAL) played 64 minutes (with the lot of injured players, perhaps he will get a call-up), Manolas will be probably available against Croatia (did not play now).
Premiership: Karnezis was on the bench as Watford lost to Stoke.
"Super" League and other championships: Fortounis played 90 minutes as Olympiacos lost to Panathinaikos (0-1), Kourbelis was captain of Pana as usual, Mantalos & Bakasetas will play tomorrow (if they will) for AEK. Tachtsidis was benched vs Pana (he played only 2 games in Greek league), same goes for Kapino and Samaris (Benfica). Zeca's Koebenhavn did not play yet. Tziolis was a starter again (90 minutes, they lost to a weak Saudi club and could be last after this matchday). Tzavellas played a full match but Maniatis wasnt in the squad (Alanyaspor). Karelis played after a year or so again for Genk (0-0 vs Kortrijk). Almost the whole Belgian press mention the return of Karelis and says he could have been a hero but unfortunately he missed a penalty. Fun fact: Avraam played for Brisbane Roar and scored his first goal in the season as they got a draw vs Wellington Phoenix (after 20 minutes they were down to 0-3, end result 3-3) but he wont be called up (he shouldnt).
On Saturday, Sokratis, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Retsos, Fortounis and Tzavellas were in the starting XI of their respective teams. Samaris, Tachtsidis, Kapino, Karnezis did not play too much this year, and now even Maniatis is struggling. At least Karelis returned and could get a call, I hope he will. I think we can manage it, but it will be tough.
Welcome back La, where have you been? One of my role models on the 'Phantis!" No-one is ever too old to play in the ethniki, I agree re maik!

I wonder about an update on how Rocka Skanko is going on his journey with the ladies of late..
-
Soula afew doors to the right asked me about my bank balance during my chat, she sounds like one for you Pash, she yours.

These particular fellas have done great in the '21s Boxa, now its time to blood afew in the Pirates. They will succeed. To think they won't is like ordering a vegetarian yeeros or a KFC meal with orange juice to keep it balanced and healthy.

If Fetta is now fat and does not want to track back and does not want to play to a gameplan then, there is nothing to contemplate. stay with Mantalos if we must, or Skippe should give Manthatis, Pelkas, Lazaro Lamprou a run, or why not Giannot-a? Lots of speed there.
It should also be Karelis (soon) or Bakasetas as back up for Mitro centrally, not both. They do not make good wingers at this level.
-
Samaris did some good things when fresh faced at around 20 year old. Skibbe-Skippy should bring in Antroutsos and see what he can do at the Pirates level in a match, not just simulation of a match at training. Also, Manthatis would be an excellent call up along with any of Limnios, Charisis, Pelkas and Bakakis-back up for Toro. Retsos looks like a real find as is that gem Donis- could be a leader in a few years time.
Two excellent young keepers already in Kapino and Anestis. Tweaking the squad going forward and not sticking with the likes of Tziol, arab, Samaris-till he gets some miles into his legs and lungs (Benficaaaa) and in 12 months Toro.
-
You give a young talented player a go eg. Donis, and almost always you get rewarded by that player in return. Skibbe could well of given three or so players a go by now - easily. Siopis, Lykogiannis, Bakakis, Gianniotas Charisis and even Taxi could of had more minutes.
I can't remember a poor effort by Taxi in the national team colours. I remember a m.o.m effort against Hungary though.

Stafy is always a starter in a Skibbe team. Its a lock. Bouchalakis must come into this squad, at any midfielder's expence, besides Fortounis and Mantalos.
Skibbe is so rigid that talent is missing out because of this to a degree, even though the team is doing a lot better than a year or two ago. Let's face it, the only way was up for the Pirates after that Disasterous Euro campaign.

Lazo, why did Benf want the services of Fesja if they were happy with what Samaris offers? A move from that club would be a way forward for him.
-
Lets face it, if I go up to Soula that lives afew doors to my right, which I admire and say to her . hi, I play for Benfica, she won't give a toss. She will still want to know how often I play for the team and if I have any form.
If Tziolara for instance goes up to her and says, I play for Sydney fc and I have Great form and I scored with a great header for the Pirates recently, she will want to go out and have a Frappe with him instead. See, that's my point, hope it is clear.
The Bosnian coach that wants to do everything he can to help the Croats can be a scary guy, he boos very loud at soccer matches, I hope the Pirates don't take notice of him in the crowd.

Ye but its not about the Socceroos, its about the Pirates are good enough to out defend Croatia. Socceroos would probably beat the Crows. You can't guarantee a result either way re maik!

You make It sound like its..er.. Sexy re Boxi!
Can't wait for Karelis to come back and be played out of position to spray his crosses all over the shop like before.

not playing for benfica is the criteria behind your selection?
bravo sou
WTF some people
Samaris does't really get to play for Benfica-that's the real problem. Zeca Taxi and Bouchalakis offer more.
-
C'mon Boythes, the Socceroos highly fancy themselves against Croatia. I think Tziolara and the Pirates won't be intimidated by them critters. They have the game to out-do the Crows.

I'm quite happy with this draw. I'd place Croatia as the third strongest team we could have drawn. Italy strongest followed by the Swiss, Croatians and then weakest as Denmark.
Thank goodness it's not Faroe Islands.

i know this is not possible judging from what skibbe has shown us so far.
WHAT! No Tziolaris??..!! Are u nuts, our prolific header into goal?? I will again read your squad incase I missed him.

J man, I get the hype on Manolas, at a big club sure. He plays like he has another gear up his sleeve but doesn't use it. It is something he has to get back-passion. He is no Sokratis these days.

A blow for the Pirates, a very good CB. Not a match winner by any stretch, KPaps can come in, do a job, get a yellow card in each of the two matches and Manolas will be back after these two matches anyway, as Kyriako then gets to sit out.
It's time Skibbe carries a back up RB in Bakakis for Toro as he has slowed up abit.

Who would wave their arms around the most out of Italy, Greece or the Ref, and have the best hair products and colognes? Italy-just, on penalties.
-
Fifa want Tziolara and the Pirates as it would be Disastrous to have the World Cup without the Tzatziki boys there. It would lose 40% viewerships and pay tv subscriptions worldwide.

What? This game will help us prepare for the playoffs? You got to be kidding me. Gibraltar a minnow a nobody lol
We had a whole qualifying to get ready and never grasped it by the balls. We should have finished in 2nd like a boss and beat the likes of Estonia lol
i have no hopes for the playoffs if we get a miracle and get there. Teams like Italy, Portugal/Swiss, Sweden ,Denmark will all be praying to play us.
we won't qualify. I have a better chance of winning the lottery
We rise when we play the best teams, I think those teams would be nervous to play the Greeks re.

Greece vs Gibraltar,
To all my Greeksters enjoy this game on Tuesday.
To all those unwavering fans that understand Greek soccer, I stand by you.
To all of those negative Greek fans that have been hitting the argile, or drinking "bomba" drinks at a very sketchy skiladiko and aren't making sense.......relax.
Everyone must understand we are not the coaches, or the players. We are simply the fans.
In the end, do your stavrouli, Make a Fredo cappuccino, wear your brightest fanella, and eat a delicious spanakopita as a tasty snack.
Remember SO MANY OTHER TEAMS WOULD KILL TO BE IN OUR POSITION. So we'll take Gibraltar for our final do or die match.
I'm with my Piccolo Latte, stuffing the capsicums and tomatoes for Gemista as we type, fille.
