You said that we won the game with a great deal of luck and then later that the team was very well prepared for this game. I'm not trying to put you on the spot but you can't have your cake and eat it too. The only way luck would have played a part in the game is if we lost via bad luck. So in closing, we either won because we were well set up and properly prepared for this contest or because we simply had lady luck on our side.

@Emperor, I completely agree with you when you say that it depends on how one looks at it. I’m not sure however how you came to the conclusion you did since the substitutions, based on scoring opportunities, made Aris more vulnerable?
Let’s give this theory a shot, this was the first game all year against an opponent who didn’t sit back and counter which is the style Aris, and most teams at our level including those above us, struggles against. Aris in the recent past, has had success against the top Greek teams except OSFP of course😉, regardless of coach, because the team doesn’t need to rely on creative players to score since space is available.
This was a very important victory because it came against an opponent who theoretically will compete with us for the 4th spot so a big bravo to everyone.

Emperor, this is a very inaccurate statement. Our opponents best scoring opportunities came after the 60th minute which is when the first subs were made and unfortunately for Aris not much happened offensively during this period. Furthermore, Garcia should not have played because it sends the wrong message to the rest of the team but I’m guessing he was under orders to play him.

Congrats to Mantzios on his first victory and wishing him many more. I just watched the highlights and can say we were lucky to come away with all 3 points but at the end that's what really matters.

He was was efficient because he got the most out of mediocre talent. Martinez is a nice little player but he clearly did not value him much nor did the two previous coaches for that matter, he didn't offer much when he was subbed in. I don't know what happened with the Swede but I'm guessing it wasn't his decision alone as they came to the conclusion too much was spent on the guy plus he wanted to get paid on time and raised a stink about it.. We lost to the Ukrainians and it was unfortunate but our arrogance is more embarrassing than the loss. We pretend as if we are some established European powerhouse but at the end we are a 500 squad in the Greek Super league, fact not fantasy land. And for the love of God please stop the 50 year unbeaten streak nonsense because that is the most ridiculous thing Aris fans say and we say plenty of those as a fanbase. He was not approachable? I don't know what that means but my understanding of their culture and the word that comes to mind when I think of Germans is discipline which doesn't exist in our dictionary. We were a disciplined and efficient team under his guidance and I for one appreciated it. Players that make negative remarks about coaches after they are gone are the type you don't want on your squad because they are nothing but excuse makers, having said that the only one I read about was Rose and I took it more of him showing support to Terzis than dogging Oenning.
Regardless of your feelings towards the German, the pattern continues and will never change with coaches which means Aris fans will have to live in the past with our 1930's championship, our 1970 cup, the victories aganist Perougia, Benfica, Atletico Madrid and that remarkable 50 year unbeaten streak. By the way, Kastoria now holds the Greek streak since they did not lose at home in the cup winners cup back in 1980, so that makes it 40 correct?

Sad to see Oenning become the scapegoat for a team with not much quality and many off the field issues. It's not surprising I suppose just the way business is done in Greece when it comes to sports. He took over last year and transformed Aris to a more efficient club but unfortunately for him, but most importantly for the club, the fanbase has unrealistic expectations never ever looking in the mirror.

In classic Aris, and Greek for that matter, overreaction Oenning has been relieved of his duties. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement but wishing the new coach best of luck.

I believe the line-up will be the same with Lopez up top instead of Mancini. I'm not sure what to expect from this game because we really know nothing about our opponents other than they are a Ukrainian team and those teams tend to have success in European matches. I might be mistaken but they are a youthful bunch so hopefully the moment will be too much for and it will work against their them.
All that said this is a must win game because a loss to this particular team, I'm speaking of their name, will make us the butt of many jokes forever.

@ukwormonce again, the brass decided this is what they want going forward, so it is not his mistake. His job is to try and make the system work, if that's possible of course. In order to do so you need to keep making adjustments until you either learn it or decide it's not for you. After the mistakes in the Volos friendly it was imperative that they play it again after talking about it at practice this week. Lamia had some chances but nothing like what Volos had, so you keep working at it. The goal Lamia scored came off a poorly taken Corner Kick and a bad read by an individual (Matilla). Teams had the same breakaway opportunities last year and we didn't play the 4-3-3.
