  1. ferguson played pro level football for 20 years in scotland with including a 2 year stint at rangers where he scored 20 some odd goals...

hiddink played about 15 years of pro football playing for psv for two years and two spells at de graafschap for 7 years playing around 300 games for the club and scoring about 70 goals...

mourhno barely played and arsene played amateur but became a manager at a young age

my point is that its important for coaches to know the life of a pro footballer to help them manage a club..they dont have to play for the BEST clubs, but its important to know the life and day to day occurances...it simply is very good prepartion..

i agree with you that its not a NECCESITY to play pro to be a coach or analyst, but its easier to anaylse the game if you have the expereince from the playing prospective.

most analysts think they know the game just bc the watch it on tv once...its actually very difficult to give a grea review and analysis of a match by only watching it once...when managers review games, they watch the game and sections of the games numerous times...

  2. being an analyst and being a manager are two very very different jobs...sure its not necessary to play to be involved, but my point was that goal.com ratings should rarely be taken seriously... :D these guys are not even first rate reporters...

plus, jose is definitly a unique one, there have not been that many top level managers who have not played professional football

papa has only played 2 or 3 matches so far for milan...we know he has quality and the right quality to play at the highest of levels...he needs to play regularly and with thiago and nesta in there he will find his chances limited...i hope he starts playing more bc he can excel at milan...i have a feeling he will be a slow replacement for nesta so we wont see too much of him this season...lets hope they help him grow in the right direction...

  3. i watched the full match and he wasnt THAT bad...

the team as a defensive unit was not great...individually he did alright, slightly above a 5, but did not look like the player that he does on the NT...

its evident that he is a bit nevous and needs more game time to feel comfortable...

i dont take the goal.com ratings all too seriously...sometimes they are on point but sometimes it appears that they didnt even watch the match....most "analysts" have never played football beyond a very amateur level if that...

  4. gekas scored twice today as eintracht beat kaiserslautern away from home 0-3

he is now tied top scorer of the league with 7 goals..hes been a real poacher in front of net so far this season..most of his goals have not been spectacular by any means but he has been lethal in the box...

could really help us in the nt this year, he looks like hes picking up some great form..

tzavellas assisted his second goal as well :gr: :gr:

  5. kone came on as a substitute two weeks ago in brescias 3-2 win over palermo and again this week in their 0-1 victory away at chievo...

i have always liked this player, i always believed he had the attributes to succeed as an attacking centre midfielder but one was of those talents that didnt flourish in the league..i hope his performances improve and he gets even more time in italy, he is still 23 and hopefully will benefit from playing in a competitive league like serie a...

  6. kavala signed like 20 players last year...were they the champions of last years transfer season?

just bc you spend money doesnt mean your buying quality...in my eyes, the transfer season is based on the quality of your signings and the qualities of your dealings and how they fit into your squad....its not just about throwing money around (ie real madrid these last few years) giving a player like pantelic 1.6 million a year is not very quality deal for me....or signing players like fuster...i would rather spend 2 mill a year on djib and gilberto and 1.6 for a 24 yr old leto then 1.6 for 32 yr old pantelic...to me, thats just throwing money around, not making smart transfers...signing three 'good' players over 32 for your starting line up doesnt seem too great to me...i believe marinakis could have spent his money alot more wisely...

    just different opinions i guess...

  7. your team is filled with foreigners and stripped of greek talents...g. papadopoulos wont play this year...thrylos i agree with you..for instance, is it necesarry to sign holebas? could oly not have promoted or brought a young greek player at the same level if not better? its all kind of sad in my opinion...this is a great year for oly to let their promising youngster get minutes...players like soiledis and niklitsiotis are more then good enough to play against mid to low level greek teams..they dont have start but there is room to get them them some quality time...but instead you are signing medium level foreigners...i think everyone already knows my opinion on these matters..

in order to be not only a successful NT but a successful and competitive league, our top teams need to be promoting young homegrown talent...i get happy when i see players like marinos and ioannidis sign for pao.. and manolas and gentsoglou get promoted into aeks first team...its good for the league and good for our ethniki...
