    pax -- you are right it is a wicked sport and some of my favourite sport memories come from it -- Ben Johnson in '88, Kenteris, Patilidou, Canada's 4x100 team, honestly. But of course many of these experiences were tainted.

    This time around I hope to see the Chinese kid win the hurdles, Wariner win the 400 and the nastiest chick win the shot put :LOL:

    Ela pathyia the track and field is no longer a watchable sport.

    A third of the medal winners will get caught eventually and the other two thirds are lucky they don't get caught.

    Look at Thanou's motorcycling buddy Kenteris -- yes he is a piece of crap cheater, but he is no different than anyone else he was to run against in Athens. The bronze winner Gatlin has been caught for banned substances and the gold winner Gatlin has had all his training partners and former coaches rung up on charges. Ben Johnson, Linford Christie, Carl Lewis (3 failed tests covered up) Tim Montgomery.........

    As for Thanou, well she is no worse than Marion Jones, Flo Jo (seriously now), tons of Eastern Europeans and the 100+ US athlete that had failed test results covered up by the USOC.

    I find the official Olympic sit half useless but I see that the gymnist Maras - former world champ in the horzontal bars -- did not qualify for round 2 for either the bars or the vault

    looks like 2:30 AM tip off Spain- Greece Eastern Time -- if its on I'll stay up

    loup. The controversy with the penalty from what i hear is that the assistant had his flag up for the offside call but the ref ignored the flag and called a penalty which if he was offsides thats it. plays dead.. you cant call a foul for someone jddged offside..

    I cant see a good angle but the guy who headerd the ball to the one who was fouled was offside when he recieved it it seems....

    If the linesman had his flag up and the referee chose to ignore it and award a penalty thats a TERRIBLE DISGUSTING CALL that only italy gets...the refs in this world seem to favor italy so its not unbelievable that this could have happened but its disgusting nevertheless... if this ref decided to play on an offside call he should be kicked out from the rest of the tournament and bring in the back up refs

    He should stay at Celtic. He already has tactical ability, he needs to learn to cope with physicality. Strachan will guide his game well and he'll develop there.

    the problem that samaras has is that he moved away from Greece at young age and did not have his Yiayia to force feed him, bamyes, fasolyia, kotopoulo, yemista, all the core foods ----- now look at the praying mantis that he has become

    i read an article where samaras claims that pao were desperate to land him on loan in jan. from man. city...and i had hoped that aek would do that.

    anyways, samaras claims the spl is better than the greek super league. hmmmm..

    now, not only would i ban samaras from celebrating goals ala robinho/raul/toni until he adds some muscle to his frame, i'd also ban him from talking to the press until he does the same...add 3-4-5 kilos of muscle.

    he's getting a bit annoying now. i'm still a huge backer of his, but, he's getting annoying. the loud mouth/dumb goal celebrations go hand in hand with laziness in the gym. shut up and lift weights.

    leagues are similar -but the SPL is a better jumping board to the big leagues --coming back to Greece is not usually a route that will get you to a bigger club/league-- it has worked but staying abroad is bette forhim

    this player continues to disappoint me..

    he had potential, he has lost it while he was at city..

    not worthy of greek national team

    Why the hell is he disapointing you? He hasnt played a full game yet. He has 3 goals and hit the post 2 times? and creates spaces and oppurtunities for his teamates. If hes not worth of the NT wtf is Vyntra Goumas Dellas Kapsis etc doing on the team.
    You've named defenders, Samaras is a striker. The fact is, he's not as good/doesn't offer the threat of Haristea, Lybe, Salpi, Amanatidis, & Gekas
    in the 4-3-3 with 2 defensive mids and Karagouni running around like a m#$%! ---Samaras DOES have a role -- he creaets from the wing better than anyone else on the team ---look at the Turkey game, and if you watch what he did at Bosnia he dominated---

    he IS inconsistent but he is more talented and more gifted naturally than any other Greek player

    AND he has always played hard when he's worn the Ethniki jersey

    looking decent so far vs Barca

    Otto has roles for all of

    Gekas

    Lybe

    Amanatidis

    Charisteas

    Samaras

    and Salpigidis

    all will contribute in Aus/Swit
