This is the the explanation that I came across for those experiencing a screen like the one above.

These forums have an automated SPAM protection service (third party). It is possible that the IP address or network address of the person that tried to register has been blacklisted from this SPAM service as having been the host of Spambots in the past. There's nothing I can do about that.

So, send me an email and provide with the username of your choice. I'll do my best to complete your registration as soon as I can.

  2. Cocksta becomes the newest PAO forum Moderator.

We had a good phone conversation earlier today, and he seems like a guy that enjoys the game of soccer (and PAO course).

Cocksta is going to help with breathing some new life into these forums and has my full support.

Thanks Cocksta and "happy moderating"

  3. From the English edition of Kathimerini:

"A court decision, announced on Wednesday morning, that dissolved the temporary administration of the team, led by Lambros Skordas, leads Aris to the resolution of its professional soccer club. That means the Yellows will now feature in one of the groups of the third division, following the path chosen last year by AEK Athens."

How sad... A bad time in the history of a team that has offered us countless memorable moments, thrills and great players!

Good luck Aris. Hope to see you back on top soon!

  4. A decent defense is the only thing the new coach inherits. Everything else should be re-evaluated and all positions should be awarded based on merit and performance. Whomever is the best player for the best position at a particular period in time. Start with that. Then build depth.

Rebuilding the Greek national team takes balls. I don't know much about our new coach. It will be up to him to make the right calls. Is he a company man or is he somebody than can get us excited?

  5. if what he says is true, that individual glory overtook the team concept then that is disturbing

It doesn't much matter if it's true or not. You just don't hang out your players to dry. One can just say 'we weren't lucky enough' or 'things didn't come our way'. But never... NEVER blame the players!!!

Personally, I am from the school that says: "Players win games, coaches loose them, and referees destroy them..."

Plus, we all saw the game, didn't we? We saw who he put in as substitutes and who he took out.

Even going back a couple of weeks, we saw who he took to Brazil and who he left back home. When one makes those kind of calls, then he has to live with them. Not blame others for failing to advance. The players did everything they could. They just weren't good enough. Some players shouldn't have been on the pitch playing in the first place. And who's call was that?

Who do you think he's blaming? Christodoupolos or Torosidis for taking a couple of shots? Some other player making a judgement call on the field? Do you think Argentina blames Messi when he thinks it's a good idea to take a shot instead of pass? How about Brazil and Neymar? But we don't have a Messi or a Neymar (one would say). Of course we don't - I would answer. We don't let them develop. We suppress them (at least up 'til now). Can Fetfa be our Messi? Or Samaris? Why do you think Samaris was our best player (or close to the best) in the previous game against Ivory Coast? Then, his performance dropped. Why?

Anyway. I could go on and on and on....

We're all hurting now. So, let's just mourn. Quietly.

PS. I still have the USA to cheer for...

  6. Here he is (the a**hole). Didn't even stay an extra night in Brazil to have dinner with his players.

    From Reuters:

Santos comments attract criticism back in Greece

...Santos left Brazil early to catch a flight to Portugal, missing the team's farewell dinner.

    What a 'quality' coach, huh?

And here's the Greek article on Gazzetta.gr that the previous article is referencing:

    http://www.gazzetta.gr/stili/editorial/article/629021/giati-ta-halases-ola-sto-telos-fernanto-santos'>

  7. You could see this coming all the way. There is a zero chance of having any offensive impact when you put in Gekas, Mitroglou and Katsouranis!!!

Anemic attacks, no plan of how to get the ball in. Maybe if another couple of Costa Rica players were sent off the Greeks might have had a chance.

Congratulations to all Greek players for giving it their all in this tournament.

Lack of a good coach sealed their fate!

  8. From the BBC:

Greece coach Fernando Santos: "We found balance tonight. We are not the worst team when we lose or the best when we win. To everyone in Greece I say, 'Go out into the street and celebrate.'"

I will pause on the excerpt 'or the best when we win.' Now, what kind of moronic coach puts his winning team down by saying something like that? What's wrong with saying 'we played a good game and we won.' Last evenings Greece game was the best showing in ages!!! Greece was by far the best team on the field. By all accounts.

So, look for Santos to play his friend Katsouranis in the game against Costa Rica, and Greece regressing to an eyesore once again.

Only the penalty call was marginal. But then, we hit the woodwork thrice.

    @bleedblueandwhite

CR is like a watered down version of mexico..

I believe you got this one wrong. Costa Rica is a much better team than Mexico. Consistent and mature. Mexico are frivolous and unreliable. They barely made the World Cup finals. But if we do play like the game against the Ivory Coast, we might put up a real fight. Having Samaris and Christodoulopoulos play again will let them settle in and maybe play an even better game. The showing should also act as a moral booster for the other players, and having Katsouranis sit out would be a blessing for the defense, since they might be able to rely on each other for consistent playing, yet once again.
  9. Are you freakin' kidding me? Everybody can see what a Greek team with Katsouranis sitting on the bench can do. Everbody can see that if you let the Greeks loose they have a half-decent team!!! They all played great today. Gave it their all. (Gekas should not come on again. Too slow, and without his cold-killer instinct anymore.)

Great game from the Greeks! One notch better than the Ivory Coast. The best game I've seen the Greeks play in years!!!! They resembled a REAL football team!

    Yes!!!!!!!!

Maybe Santos can catch the next plane home, and just let the lads play in Brazil???

  10. Also, why play Salpingidis? As much as I like the fellow, he does not have the conditioning and stamina to play under hot weather conditions. He had his tongue (nearly) hanging out in the first game against the fast-paced Colombians. Life is not going to be easier for him against the Ivorians. Give Fetfa a real chance.
