No matter what everyone this is something that we (EPO) need to look at seriously and see what's going to happen come qualification time.

Also whomever is going to be the coach he has to make a deciosion of using veteran players, youth or a mixture of both..

This will be the future of Greek Soccer here soooooo this needs to be taken VERY seriosuly.

Ideal group for us....... I don't think that there is one. The most ideal group was the group that Portugal just played in for the WC Qualifying..... (What a joke)

Lets just givem' hell and play good soccer.... That's all I want

Honestly, if we don't qualify for Euro 2008 with such a group selection, it will be a disaster.

My personal Favourite draw would be:

(1) ELLAS

(2) Romania/Poland/Croatia

(3) Bulgaria/Norway/Ukraine

(4) Scotland/Slovenia

(5) Lithuania/Wales/Estonia/Finland

(6) Cyprus/Moldavia/FYROM/Belarus/Northern Ireland

(7) San Marino/Luxemburg/Faroe Islands

With these choices, we have an excellent chance (in my opinion) in going through to the Euro 2008.

How qualifying will work for Euro 2008 (this was recently re-posted...)

Three points are awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and no points for a defeat.

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the qualifying group matches, the following criteria will be applied to determine the rankings.

- Higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question.

- Superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question.

- Higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question.

- Higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question.

- If, after applying criteria a) to d) to several teams, two or more teams still have an equal ranking, the criteria a) to d) will be reapplied to determine the ranking of these teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) and g) will apply. - Results of all group matches:

1. Superior goal difference

2. Higher number of goals scored

3. Higher number of goals scored away from home

4. Fair play conduct.

- Drawing of lots.

Interest and expectation

New trophy for UEFA EURO 2008

UEFA will unveil a new trophy for UEFA EURO 2008 on Thursday in Montreux, Switzerland ahead of the competition's qualifying round draw the following day

Modern design

The new UEFA European Championship trophy is 18 centimetres higher and two kilos heavier than the original designed by Arthus Bertrand in 1960 and named after Henri Delaunay, the former president of the French Football Federation. The upper part of the trophy is based on the original and is also made out of sterling silver. The new trophy, created by Asprey London, will also retain its historical name.

On display

It will be officially unveiled at the Montreux Congress Centre by UEFA President Lennart Johansson, UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson and the presidents of the two EURO 2008 host associations, Ralph Zloczower from Switzerland and Austria's Friedrich Stickler on Thursday at 15.00CET. It will be on display at the qualifying round draw the next day.

You can follow Friday's draw live on uefa.com.

Here's the trophy:

More fixtures

Fifty teams will be attempting to gain entry to the 2008 showpiece with Austria and Switzerland qualifying automatically as co-hosts of the final round in three summers' time. The same number set out on the road to Portugal in 2004 when sides were grouped into ten sections of five; this time every competing nation will have a busier fixture schedule. There will be one group of eight teams with the other six pools made up of seven. GREECE, as holders, are in pot 1 and are joined by England and the Netherlands who four years previously were both ranked among the second tier.

Germany fall

Conversely Germany, Italy, Turkey, Spain and Romania have moved down the rankings and all know they will have to face one of the strongest sides – GREECE, Netherlands, Portugal, England, Czech Republic or France – home and away over the next couple of seasons.
