JOHNNY
Former Rangers and Everton manager Walter Smith has been announced as Bertie Vogts replacement as Scotland manager. In a move which smells suspiciously like a move to ease Old Firm bias, Celtic coach Tommy Burns has been approached to stay on as assistant. A positive Smith has stated that qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany is still his target, despite the shocking start to the campaign. One of his first tasks looks set to be an approach to self-exiled stars like David Weir, Duncan Ferguson and Dominic Matteo to come out of international retirement.
