Alexa
A brand new Irish league site devoted to Division One has appeared on the Net. And, before anyone asks, I am not associated with it in any form. Quite imformative though and, certainly worth a visit.
Irlandos
Worth the visit but it is sad to see Glenavon included with all those other clubs that really aren't in their league. I hope the Lurgan side quickly move back up to where they belong! :)
Alexa
Can't really agree with you on the Glenavon status thing. Glenavon are where they are because of what they have become. I got this from a Glenavon fan's perspective and this sums up how low they have sunk. Friendly: Glenavon 1 - 3 H&W Welders Social Club Shocking display against what is literally a pub team. Team was... McDonald (At fault for first two goals, very Ricer) LB Savage RB Hyndes Batey (scored 80th minute or so, near enough a tap in) Hawe McShane McCloskey Feeney (had a decent enough game, probably our best performer in first half) Topley Withnell Candlish Candlish was nothing in the game, didn't even know he was there. We made plenty of chances. Withnell fluffed an absolute sitter from about 2 yards out. Noone seemed to want to shoot. Very slow going foward, midfield was nowhere at times, defence was slow. Chines came on in the second half and made a couple of decent chances but nothing of note. McVeigh looked decent enough though afraid to shoot. Walshy game on but only beat the left back once out of about 10 trys. There were a couple of other subs but can't really remember. McMahon came on with about 15 mins left and had a very decent performance for the first time back. Made a couple of chances (the goal) and won a couple of headers up front. Still runs with a limp though and understandably doesn't looked committed in the challenge. All in all, a piss-poor showing. It may only have been a friendly but, rather disappointing wouldn't you say?
Irlandos
Very disappointing result! :( Is McMahon still with that team? I wouldn't blame him if he packed up and left! Even at his age, he can do better than that...
Alexa
It seems McMahon is not fully fit, judging by the fan's last paragraph but one in his report.
