Vaggar Posted June 4, 2004 Share Posted June 4, 2004 In the next few days OFI will decide on the new coach. The rumor is that OFI has already agreed with the coach and only the announcement remains. The sole responsible for the selection is Myriokefalitakis. His first choice would be a foreign coach (Markov, the technical coach of the Bulgarian NT is assumed to be the primary target), but if this will not be possible, then he might select a duo of coaches from Crete (the names that have been mentioned are that of Petrakis, Vlastos, Patmetzis, Noplias). As far as Sifakis is concerned, OFI will not make him an offer because he does not want to start competing with Ergotelis. Myriokefalitakis had meetings with people from the Ministry of Economy and NETMED. The news is that the government will eventually vote to reduce the interest on debt as well as they way that this interest is calculated. This means that the debt of OFI will drastically be reduced and the team will be able to deal with it easier. Also NETMED will give 1.150.000 Euro to OFI for next season's TV rights. Finally, the rumor is that the sponsorship by Vardinogiannides will be around 750.000 Euro. On the transfer front nothing is moving. Last week Machairoudis the 24 year old striker of Thisea Perivolion was trained with OFI and also played in the friendly game against Irodoto (4-0) and scored 2 goals (the other two were scored by Neofytou). Machairoudis was the first scorer in the Cretan group of D' Division with 22 goals, mainly because he scored 8 goals!!!! in the last game (Tiseas-Aris Reth. 10-2). The 39-year old Belgian Stefan De Mol, the 47-year old Swiss Rolf Fringer and the 57-year old Johan Boskamp. Vaggar Posted June 11, 2004 Author Share Posted June 11, 2004 The latest in the quest for the coach is the addition of the name of Dan Petrescou, the former coach of Rapid Bucuresti. He was suggested by Jordanescu when Enhel was contacted by Myriokefalitaki to take the job!!! In the board meeting yesterday some members objected in hiring Petraki from Irodoto and promoting Vlasto from the youth team as the coaching duet. They insisted in hiring a foreign coach even if OFI pays a little more than what was initially budgeted. The primary target remains Markov of the Bulgarian NT. Vaggar Posted June 16, 2004 Author Share Posted June 16, 2004 And the name of the new coach ...YIANNI CHATZINIKOLAOU :huh?: He is 39 years old, from Serres, and his only coaching experience was the job he got from AOAN (D Division) the past 6 months!!!! He has the diploma for coaching an A' Division club and he is concindered a very talanted coach (don't ask me by who... this is what I read in the Cretan newspapers).
